摘要: Processes for producing high-octane-number fuel components, particularly those useful for AvGas blends, can be advantageously produced from hydrocarbon feed streams comprising C8+ aromatic hydrocarbons. Such feed streams may be produced by, among others, separation and other optional post-processing of an effluent produced from a steam cracker (e.g., a liquid feed steam cracker cracking liquid feeds such as naphtha and/or other crude fractions, a gas steam cracker cracking gas feeds such as ethane and/or propane), hydrocarbon reforming of a crude fraction or steam cracker effluent fraction, C6-C7 aromatic hydrocarbon methylation, transalkylation between C6-C7 aromatic hydrocarbons and C9+ aromatic hydrocarbons, isomerization of C8 aromatic hydrocarbons, and toluene disproportionation processes.

摘要: A fuel or fuel blending agent for an internal combustion engine includes a ketone compound that is a C4 to C10 branched acyclic ketone, cyclopentanone, or a derivative of cyclopentanone. The ketone compound may be blended with a majority portion of a fuel selected from the group consisting of: gasoline, diesel, alcohol fuel, biofuel, renewable fuel, Fischer-Tropsch fuel, or combinations thereof. The ketone compound may be derived from biological sources. A method for powering an internal combustion engine with a fuel comprising the ketone compound is also provided.

摘要: An unleaded gasoline composition comprises, based on the total volume of the unleaded gasoline composition, 50 to 96 vol. % of an unleaded gasoline; 2 to 20 vol. % of a mixed butanol; and 2 to 30 vol. % of a distillate oil fraction comprising a paraffin, an olefin, a naphthene, and an aromatic at an initial boiling point cut of 180° C., wherein the unleaded gasoline, the mixed butanol, and the distillate oil fraction are selected to provide the unleaded gasoline composition with a Research Octane Number of 90 to 101, determined in accordance with ASTM D 2699; and a Motor Octane Number of 81.4 to 90, determined in accordance with ASTM D 2700.

摘要: Methods for separation of oxygenates or other chemical components from fuels using chemical processes and separations including, but not limited to, onboard applications in vehicles. These separations may take place using a variety of materials and substances whereby a target material of interest is captured, held, and then released at a desired location and under desired conditions. In one set of experiments we demonstrated an enhancement in the separation of diaromatics by >38 times over gasoline and aromatics by >3.5 times over gasoline. This would give an advantage to reducing cold-start emissions, or emissions during transient conditions, in either gasoline or diesel.

摘要: Provided is a process for hydrating and oligomerizing a hydrocarbon feed comprising mixed olefins, by contacting the feed with water and a catalyst in a fixed bed reactor, wherein the catalyst hydrates mixed olefins to mixed alcohols and oligomerizes mixed olefins into oligomers; introducing the resulting stream into a first separator that separates an organic phase from an aqueous phase; introducing the organic phase into a second separator that separates unreacted olefins from mixed alcohols/oligomers; introducing the aqueous phase into a third separator that separates an alcohol-water azeotrope from water; introducing the second stream into a fourth separator that separates sec-butyl alcohol to produce a third stream comprising mixed butanols and oligomers and an SBA stream; f) mixing the third stream and a first portion of the SBA stream to produce a final product stream; and g) recycling a second portion of the SBA stream to the second separator.

摘要: A method of producing a fuel additive includes passing a feed stream comprising C4 hydrocarbons through a methyl tertiary butyl ether unit producing a first process stream; passing the first process stream through a selective butadiene hydrogenation unit transforming greater than or equal to 90% by weight of the butadiene to 1-butene and 2-butene, preferably greater than or equal to 93%, preferably, greater than or equal to 94%, more preferably, greater than or equal to 95% producing a second process stream; passing the second process stream through a hydration unit producing a third process stream and the fuel additive; passing the third process stream through a total hydrogenation unit producing a hydrogenated stream; and passing the hydrogenated stream to a cracker unit.

摘要: A method for reducing the tendency of a hydrocarbon fluid to oxidise comprises combining an additive having a chemical structure comprising a 6-membered aromatic ring sharing two adjacent aromatic carbon atoms with a 6- or 7-membered saturated heterocyclic ring, the 6- or 7-membered saturated heterocyclic ring comprising a nitrogen atom directly bonded to one of the shared carbon atoms to form a secondary amine and an atom selected from oxygen or nitrogen directly bonded to the other shared carbon atom, the remaining atoms in the 6- or 7-membered heterocyclic ring being carbon with the hydrocarbon fluid. The additive may also be used for protecting a system in which a hydrocarbon fluid is used from the effects of oxidation.

摘要: Methods for making higher-octane fuel components from a feed stream of C8+ paraffins, including catalytically cracking the C8+ paraffins using a Zeolite catalyst to produce a reaction product of mid-chain paraffins and olefins and short-chain paraffins and olefins. The reaction product comprises liquid phase paraffins having an increased Octane Value over the feed stream paraffins. The reaction product further comprises a gas phase of short-chain paraffins which are separated from the liquid phase. In embodiments, the short chain olefins are hydrogenated to form mid-chain paraffins and a gas phase containing short-chain paraffins.
