摘要: A method of growing an extra-particle aerial mycelium employs electrostatically charged mist to control mist deposition uniformity in a growth environment, and on a growth matrix (or growing extra-particle aerial mycelium on a growth matrix) comprising nutritive substrate and a fungus in a growth environment with a predetermined environment of humidity, temperature, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. Control of mist deposition by electrostatically charging mist allows for control of the morphology and uniformity of the extra-particle aerial mycelium produced, independent of airflow uniformity, growth environment size, and structural obstacles that may be present within a growth environment. Control of mist deposition by electrostatically charging mist also offers the potential for targeted mist application where it might be needed most for fungal organism growth.

摘要: A device for electrically connecting with and holding organoids includes a substrate and a multielectrode array (MEA) attached to said substrate. The MEA includes an electrical bus attached to the substrate, and a plurality of leaflets each having a first end pivotably connected to the electrical bus while remaining portions thereof are free to move relative to the substrate while remaining connected and pivoting at each first end. Each leaflet of the plurality of leaflets includes an electrical wire embedded therein that extends from each respective leaflet into the electrical bus. The MEA has a size that is suitable to electrically connect to and hold an organoid that is between 250 μm to 2 cm while at least one leaflet of the plurality of leaflets is pivoted up away from the substrate so as to securely hold the organoid in place and form a three-dimensional electrical connection with the organoid.

摘要: A fluid filtration system includes a fluid storage vessel such as a bioreactor, a filter housing including a filter element disposed therein, a pump coupled between the fluid storage vessel and the filter housing, and a flow diverter disposed between the pump and the filter housing. The pump is configured to move fluid from the fluid storage vessel through the filter element, and the flow diverter is configured for selectively directing fluid received from the pump to the first or second end of the filter housing. In a first mode of operation, the flow diverter directs flow through the filter housing in a first direction, while in a second mode of operation, the flow diverter directs flow through the filter housing in a second direction opposite the first direction.

摘要: Systems and methods for treating media in large-scale bioreactors can include a method of using a large-scale bioreactor system. The method can include (a) mixing a mixture of at least cells, and media in a bioreactor, and (b) removing a portion of the media through an output port of the bioreactor. The method can also include (c) retaining the cells within the bioreactor using a screen covering the port. The method can also include (d) receiving a second media, which may in some examples include the portion of the first media removed from the bioreactor, into a media preparation container external to the bioreactor, (e) treating the second media within the media preparation container to produce oxygenated media within a threshold pH range, and (f) introducing the oxygenated media into the bioreactor using a return port of the bioreactor.
