    Abstract: An apparatus for producing hot briquetted iron and a method for producing hot briquetted iron using such an apparatus. The apparatus includes a briquetting press and a force feeder arrangement. The apparatus further includes a powder injection arrangement, the powder injection arrangement including a powder dosing unit and at least one injection line. The powder dosing unit is arranged to be able to dose powder at a predetermined rate to the at least one injection line. Each injection line extends from a line inlet to a line outlet. Each line inlet is arranged to be connectible to a source of pressurized carrier gas and each line outlet is arranged to be able to inject powder into a material supply tank of the force feeder arrangement.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of iron ore fines agglomerate, resistant to handling, transport, and contact with water. The process consists of mixing iron ore fines with sodium silicate, nanomaterials, catalyst, fluxes and plasticizer; adjusting the moisture of the mixture; agglomerating the mixture by pelletizing, briquetting or extrusion; performing curing at room temperature. The process does not require energy input for heat treatment and allows obtaining an agglomerated product with high physical and metallurgical performance to replace metallic load, including sinter, in reduction furnaces, without the emission of harmful gases such as CO2, dioxins, furans, and SOx.

    Abstract: A suspension roasting system includes a feeding bin, a Venturi dryer, a first cyclone preheater, a second cyclone preheater, a pre-oxidation suspension roasting furnace, a thermal separation cyclone cylinder, a suspension and reduction roasting furnace, a collecting bin, a grinding machine, a magnetic ore separator and a draught fan. A suspension roasting method includes: crushing iron and manganese ores; conveying the ores to the Venturi dryer; starting the draught fan and enabling combustion gas in the Venturi dryer to be mixed with dust ores to remove water; enabling obtained solid materials to enter the pre-oxidation suspension roasting furnace after being preheated by the first and second cyclone preheaters; enabling obtained gas to enter the suspension and reduction roasting furnace through the thermal separation cyclone cylinder; performing suspension and reduction roasting; enabling obtained reducing slag powder to enter the collecting bin through cooling cyclone cylinders; and performing grinding and magnetic separation.

    Abstract: Solar energy is concentrated and transferred to a heat transfer fluid, thereby heating the heat transfer fluid. The heat transfer fluid includes solid particles. Heat from the heat transfer fluid is used to melt a metal. While transferring heat to the furnace, at least a portion of the melted metal is oxidized to form steel. Heat is transferred from a first portion of the heat transfer fluid to a working fluid. The working fluid is then flowed through a turbine generator, which generates electrical power in response. A first water stream is electrolyzed using the electrical power generated by the turbine generator to produce a first oxygen stream and a first hydrogen stream. Heat is transferred from a second portion of the heat transfer fluid to a reactor that houses a recycling agent to thermochemically split a second water stream into a second oxygen stream and a second hydrogen stream.

    Abstract: A system for the production of sponge iron, including a direct reduction shaft, a reduction gas source, a reduction gas container, a primary circuit for conducting at least a part of a top gas therethrough, a secondary circuit for conducting at least a portion of gas removed from gas conducted through the primary circuit, said secondary circuit being connected in one end to the primary circuit and in another end to the reduction gas container, a second gas line connecting the reduction gas source with the reduction gas container, and a third gas line connecting the reduction gas container with the first gas line. The system also includes a control unit configured to control a flow of reduction gas from reduction gas source to the first gas line and to control a flow of reduction gas from the reduction gas container to the first gas line through the third gas line, wherein the control unit is configured to enable a flow of reduction gas from the reduction gas container to said first gas line while correspondingly reducing a flow rate of reduction gas from the reduction gas source to said first gas line.
