摘要: A sealing process includes impregnating an oxide layer of an anodized metal with a corrosion inhibitor by contacting the oxide layer with a first corrosion inhibitor solution at a first temperature and sealing the impregnated oxide layer of an anodized metal by contacting the impregnated oxide layer with a second corrosion inhibitor solution at a second temperature, wherein the first corrosion inhibitor solution has a corrosion inhibitor concentration greater than the second corrosion inhibitor solution and the first temperature is less than the second temperature.

The above challenge can be solved by a surface treatment agent that contains a water-soluble or water-dispersible organic polymer (A) containing a carbonyl group and/or hydroxyl group in a unit structure and an organic polymer (B) containing a phosphonic group.

摘要: Disclosed are: a chemical conversion treatment solution for metal surfaces, which enables the formation of a chemical conversion coating film having excellent corrosion resistance and adhesion properties on metal base materials even though the solution does not contain chromium and fluorine, comprising at least one compound (A) selected from a water-soluble titanium compound and a water-soluble zirconium compound and an organic compound (B) that has multiple functional groups and can serve as a stabilizing agent, and which has a pH value of 2.0 to 6.5, wherein the content of the compound (A) is 0.1 to 10 mmol/L, and the content of the organic compound (B) is 2.5- to 10-fold larger than the content of the metal in the compound (A) by mole; and a method for treating the surface of a metal base material or a structure or body using the chemical conversion treatment solution for metal surfaces.

摘要: Materials for, and methods of, colorizing a metallic surface with micro-gratings using vibration cutting technologies are provided. Micro-gratings on aluminum, brass, and stainless steel surfaces can be rapidly created to effect, under illumination, at least one color observable in the visible spectrum using elliptical vibration texturing, a vibration-assisted mechanical cutting process. The modified metallic surface can display multiple visible colors, an iridescent effect caused by changes in one or more cutting parameters employed to produce the micro-gratings, the angle of illumination by an incident light, and/or the viewing angle of the surface under illumination.

摘要: A method of bonding a metal to a substrate involves forming a plurality of nano-features in a surface of the substrate, where each nano-feature is chosen from a nano-pore and/or a nano-crevice. In a molten state, the metal is over-cast onto the substrate surface, and penetrates the nano-features. Upon cooling, the metal is solidified inside the nano-features, where the solidification of the metal forms a mechanical interlock between the over-cast metal and the substrate.
