    摘要: An apparatus for the continuous treatment of an advancing web such as a cotton fabric with one or more reactive gases comprises one or more reaction chambers, each including fluid discharge means for directing a treating gas onto the web in the chamber and evacuation means disposed on both ends of the chamber to prevent both the fluid from escaping from the chamber and the fluid outside the chamber from entering the chamber. Heating means adapted to heat the continuously advancing web of fabric material may also be provided. Suitable heating means include a plurality of heated rotary drums. Such an apparatus may be used for the application of gases such as formaldehyde or sulfur dioxide or both to a cellulose fibercontaining fabric at an elevated temperature and in the presence of controlled amounts of moisture. In this manner, a previously applied N-methylol precondensate can be ''''wet fixed'''' in the fabric, thus making it possible to improve the wrinkle resistance and other shape-holding properties of the fabric while preserving good fabric strength after an eventual dry cure. Such a process can also be used directly to impart the desired shape-holding properties to the fabric, e.g., by crosslinking cotton by means of an acid-catalyzed formaldehyde reaction in the described apparatus.

    摘要: A roller-lock is used as a sealing system for the inlet and outlet of material webs into or out of autoclaves and consists of a series of individual pressure chambers which are separated or defined by pairs of rollers whereby, the material passing from the atmosphere into the the pressure chamber of the autoclave moves through several staged pressure chambers having increasing pressure therein. When the material passes out of the autoclave it moves through the same chambers in an opposite direction to be subjected to staged decreasing pressure as it passes out of the sealing system.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to an apparatus for steam processing tubular knitted fabric, as in a spreading or calendering operation. The steamer apparatus of the invention is characterized by its ability effectively to impart steam to the fabric at much higher rates than has been possible heretofore, consistent with satisfactory quality. Since the steaming of the fabric heretofore has constituted a limiting or bottleneck stage of calendering or similar processing operations, the ability of the new steaming device to increase the effective rate of steam application can be translated directly into higher production rates in the fabric processing operation as a whole. The new steaming apparatus includes a pair of dripless steam boxes of heretofore known construction arranged above and below the plane of the fabric in a manner well known per se. According to the invention, however, these steam boxes are closely embraced and enclosed by a steam chamber housing, which momentarily confines the billowing steam in the immediate vicinity of the fabric surface. To advantage, the excess steam is removed by way of a down-draft exhaust system.

    摘要: Fibrous materials are continuously heat-treated under pressure by passage through a heat-treating chamber filled with a pressurized heating fluid and provided with at least a pair of symmetrical sealing chambers which are located at the inlet part and the outlet part of the heat-treating chamber. Sealing fluid is introduced into the sealing chambers through pipes for introducing the sealing fluid; and ejected from the clearances A and A'' toward the outside of the heat-treating chamber, while applying a static pressure to the atmosphere around the fibrous materials passing through the slits formed in the central part of the inlet and outlet of the heat-treating chamber. Leakage of the pressurized heating fluid from the heat-treating chamber can be thereby prevented, and the fibrous materials can be heat-treated without any damages.
