Abstract: The disclosure more appropriately determines a condition of a step executed at the time of creating a product of printing. A printing system (10) that creates a product of printing by performing at least printing includes a printer (16) which is a printing apparatus that executes a printing step of performing printing by ejecting ink; a washing machine (20) which is a post-processing machine that executes a post-processing step on a printed matter obtained by performing the printing step in the printer (16); and a control device (12) that determines a condition of a post-processing step based on a condition of the printing step.

Abstract: Supercritical fluid (“SCF”) is used to scour a target material to leave scour elements, such as oligomers and oils from the target material. Carbon dioxide (“CO2”) is introduced into a pressure vessel also containing the target material to be scoured. The CO2 is raised in temperature and pressure to a SCF state. The CO2 is recirculated within the pressure vessel to scour the target material. An exchange of the CO2 is occurs allowing for the scoured elements to be removed from the CO2 and therefore from within the pressure vessel. Operation variables such as temperature, pressure, time, internal flow rate, and CO2 exchange are adjusted to achieve a scouring of the target material.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and formulation for cleaning a soiled substrate, the method comprising the treatment of the moistened substrate with a formulation comprising a multiplicity of polymeric particles, wherein the formulation is free of organic solvents. Preferably, the substrate is wetted so as to achieve a substrate to water ratio of between 1:0.1 to 1:5 w/w. Optionally, the formulation additionally comprises at least one cleaning material and, in this embodiment, it is preferred that the polymeric particles are coated with the at least one cleaning material. Preferably, the cleaning material comprises a surfactant, which most preferably has detergent properties. Most preferably, the substrate comprises a textile fiber. Typically, the polymeric particles comprise particles of nylon, most preferably in the form of nylon chips. The results obtained are very much in line with those observed when carrying out conventional dry cleaning processes and the method provides the significant advantage that the use of solvents, with all the attendant drawbacks in terms of cost and environmental considerations, can be avoided.

Abstract: A densified fluid barrier cleaning system is disclosed in which a pressure vessel encases a movable basket positioned so as to cross a barrier such that one opening of the pressure vessel resides in a first environment and a second opening of the pressure vessel resides in a second environment. A tubular basket within the pressure vessel is positioned such that its central longitudinal axis is aligned with both the first and second opening of the pressure vessel. Responsive to the successful completion of a cleaning cycle, soiled articles that are introduced to the basket via the first opening from the first environment can be removed through the second opening and into the second environment thus bridging the barrier without fear of introducing contaminants from the first environment to second environment.
