摘要: The present invention discloses a water gate control system which selects either the automatic mode or forced mode, in the automatic mode the gate being automatically swung depending upon the level of a stream or water-way between the upright or closing position and the flat or opening position by a single- or double-acting hydraulic cylinder in which a directly or indirectly spring loaded piston is displaced depending upon the hydraulic pressure acting on the gate, and in the forced mode, the working oil under pressure being introduced into the hydraulic cylinder for swinging the gate to and holding it in a desired angular position independently of the level.

摘要: The invention concerns a flood protection for protecting a back area against rising water level from a front area, the flood protection operating between a bottom and a water surface, including at least one barrier element with a longitudinal direction and a height direction, the longitudinal direction during operation extending substantially transversely of an area, e.g. a stream, a fjord, a river or an estuary, and the height direction during operation extending from the bottom of an area, e.g. a stream, a fjord, a river or an estuary, and up, where the at least one barrier element during operation interacts with a base arranged at the bottom of the actual area. The invention also concerns a method for operating such a flood protection. The new feature of the flood protection according to the invention is that it includes a movable and buoyancy balanced barrier element that includes an adjustable ballast system for regulating the buoyancy balance, the base of the flood protection including a bottom rail system, and the barrier elements including contact means arranged for contact with the bottom rail system.

摘要: A shaft power plant for energy conversion of a discharge between a headwater and a tailwater, comprising a vertical shaft, the top of which forms an inflow plane which is parallel to the bed and extends below the headwater water level, wherein the shaft is open toward the top and is closed by a base at its bottom end, a unit composed of a turbine and an electrical machine, wherein the unit is arranged entirely under water in the shaft and wherein the turbine is arranged for water to pass through vertically, and an outflow, which is connected to the turbine, represents a closed flow channel and leads through a through-passage in the shaft to the tailwater, wherein, in a horizontal plane of a turbine runner of the turbine, a first cross-sectional area of the shaft is much larger than a second cross-sectional area taken up by the turbine runner.

摘要: Illustrative embodiments of the invention are directed to a technique for raising and lowering large tainter gates. Typically, two groups of lifting apertures are formed in the gate. A lifting mechanism, resiliently mounted on the tainter gate pier, inserts a movable pin into an aperture in one of the two groups and draws the gate upwardly. A stationary pin on the lifting mechanism then is inserted into an aperture in the other of the two groups to absorb the gate load while the movable pin is withdrawn and moved to a new aperture in order to continue the step-wise lifting process.To lower a gate, an essentially reverse procedure is followed.

摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for admitting atmospheric air to a bounded volume of air on a downstream side of a crest gate where the bounded volume is defined by the gate and a curtain of water spilling over the gate. The apparatus comprises a plurality of rigid conduits secured to the gate and sized sufficient to have a first opening in communication with atmospheric air and second opening in communication with the bounded volume of air. The rigid conduits are secured to the gate and spaced along the length of the gate to divide the curtain of water flowing over the gate into a plurality of separate water currents. Permitting communication between atmospheric air and the bounded volume of air, the rigid conduits act to abate damaging vibration to the gate caused by the flow of water over the crest of the gate.
