摘要: Methods, tools, and systems for determining two-phase borehole fluid holdup using pulsed neutron (PN) measurements are described. Embodiments of the techniques involve using formation models that are extended/extrapolated (or remodeled) to a value of 100 p.u., which correlates to the borehole environment where there is no formation matrix present. Those models can be used to determine the fractional relationship of oil and water in the borehole based on carbon and oxygen ratios provided by the PN measurement.

The method comprises determining a fluid gradient for the type of the reservoir fluid for each of the number of fluid depth ranges.

摘要: The invention provides a method for quantitative downhole surveillance of a multi-phase flow, comprising at least two phases of either oil, water or gas, in a petroleum well. 摘要: An adaptive fluid switch for regulating the production rate of a fluid. The adaptive fluid switch includes a fluid control valve having a self-impinging valve element with at least one dissolvable plug configured to initially block fluid flow therethrough. After dissolution of the dissolvable plug and when the fluid produced through the adaptive fluid switch has a viscosity greater than a first predetermined level, the fluid follows a low resistance flow path in the self-impinging valve element but when the fluid has a viscosity less than a second predetermined level, the fluid follows a high resistance flow path in the self-impinging valve element, thereby regulating the production rate of the fluid responsive to changes in the viscosity of the fluid.

摘要: A well testing system and method is disclosed that reduces the surface equipment needed for well testing by providing a closed loop fluid flow path where the fluids produced during the well test are not brought to the surface for storage or flaring but instead are disposed in a downhole zone. The system and method are implemented using a simplified acoustic communications network where a hub device generates and transmits a single multiple hop query that includes multiple commands or queries directed to targeted downhole tools.

摘要: A downhole sampling tool includes a tool body defining an opening therein for drawing a formation fluid into the downhole sampling tool. At least one sampling vessel is carried in the tool body and is operatively coupled to the opening to receive the formation fluid therein. A closure member is selectively engageable with the opening to prohibit flow of the formation fluid through the opening, and a biasing mechanism is operably coupled to the closure member. The biasing mechanism biases the closure member into engagement with the opening and is responsive to an increase in hydraulic pressure on the exterior of the sampling tool to a predetermined threshold pressure to permit movement of the closure member away from the opening and permit flow of the formation fluid through the opening and into the sampling vessel.

The method may include inserting a formation testing tool into a wellbore to a first location within the wellbore based at least in part on a figure of merit. The formation testing tool may include at least one probe, a pump disposed within the formation testing tool and connect to the at least one probe by at least one probe channel and at least one fluid passageway, and at least one stabilizer disposed on the formation testing tool. The method may further include activating the at least one stabilizer, wherein the at least one stabilizer is activated into a surface of the wellbore and performing the pressure test and determining at least one formation property from the pressure test.
