Abstract: An activation control module utilizes gravity and/or centrifugal acceleration to move a mechanical element that controls, activates or deactivates a mechanical or hydraulic mechanism, for use with a downhole tool such as a drilling tool or reamer in a wellbore. In embodiments, the activation control module described herein may utilize a combination of centrifugal acceleration and/or gravity due to an inclination of the downhole tool to move a valve, which turns off pressure to a hydro-mechanical system. The activation control modules may be utilized in applications where very little space is available for larger mechanisms. Further, the activation control modules do not require expensive and complex electro-mechanical systems, reducing or eliminating the need for batteries, wiring, electronics, motors, pumps and the like. Moreover, the activation control modules described herein do not require the use of a turbine, a centrifugal clutch or a linear actuator.

The multilateral junction, according to this aspect, further includes a lateral locating assembly coupled to the second opposing lateral bore leg end, the lateral locating assembly including: a tubular; and a bendable deflection tip coupled to the tubular, the bendable deflection tip configured to move between a straight position and a bent position upon the application of fluid pressure thereto.

Abstract: A non-metallic liner for wellbore sidetrack operations is included in a wellbore tool assembly. The assembly includes a wellbore milling bottom hole assembly (BHA) that can mill through a wellbore liner material and material softer than the wellbore liner material. The assembly includes a wellbore liner that can be installed within a main well. The wellbore liner includes a first length segment made of the wellbore liner material and a second length segment axially attached to the first length segment. The second length segment is made of the non-metallic material. A window to form a lateral well is in the second length segment. The assembly includes a whipstock that can be installed within the main well in the first length segment of the wellbore liner after the wellbore milling BHA has milled the second length segment. The whipstock can guide the wellbore milling BHA towards the window.

Abstract: Shown and described herein is a choke assembly for use with a downhole drill string. The choke assembly may include a rotating choke carrier, a stationary seat disposed on the rotating choke carrier and a rotating choke positioned adjacent to the stationary seat to create a seal surface. The choke assembly may further comprise a biasing mechanism applying a biasing force to press the rotating choke against the stationary seat and a flow port within the stationary seat which controls drilling fluid to allow some drilling fluid to become a bypass fluid and pass through the stationary seat.

Abstract: A method for supplying, via an electrical interface, an output electrical power to an electrical load that is downhole in a borehole formed in a subsurface formation, includes generating mechanical energy from a flow of a fluid being delivered into the borehole; converting the mechanical energy into an input electrical power; storing the input electrical power into a primary capacitor, wherein the input electrical power has a variance that is greater than a variance threshold. The method includes performing the following operations while continuing to generate the mechanical energy generated from the flow of the fluid, in response to determining that at least one load criteria is satisfied, discharging the input electrical power from the primary capacitor to the electrical load to power a downhole operation by the electrical load.

Abstract: System and methods for using channel quality reports to reduce inter-band interference are disclosed. Channel information is received at a first wireless communication device from a second wireless communication device. The first wireless device is operating in a first frequency range, and the second wireless device is operating in a second frequency range. The first frequency range is adjacent to the second frequency range. A channel quality report is generated at the first wireless communication device. The channel quality report indicates that particular sub-bands in the first frequency range have low channel quality. The particular sub-bands are selected using the channel information.

Abstract: A system and method for drilling are provided. The method may comprise receiving well plan and BHA information; determining the BHA is approaching a first zone in which a first slide drilling operation is to occur; and receiving first zone characteristics. The method may further comprise determining an on bottom time to orient the BHA in the first zone; determining an additional time for the first slide drilling operation; and determining an off bottom time to orient the BHA prior to reaching the first zone. The method may further comprise comparing the additional time for the first slide drilling operation in the first zone to the off bottom time to orient the BHA prior to reaching the first zone, and sending one or more control signals to orient the BHA either prior to reaching or at the first zone based at least in part on the comparison.
