摘要: A vacuum pump generally comprises a low pressure portion and a high pressure portion separated by a gas impermeable partition. Gas molecules exit the low pressure portion through an opening in the partition and passively impinge on a featureless rotatable surface in the high pressure portion. A drive rotates the rotatable surface with tangential velocity in the supersonic range at multiple times the most probable velocity of the impinging gas molecules. Impinging gas molecules are ejected outwardly from the periphery of the rotatable surface generating a substantial net outward flow of gas and reducing the pressure in the low pressure portion. The vacuum pump is effective to reduce the pressure in the low pressure portion to a target minimum pressure without using seals to prevent gas molecules from leaking back to the low pressure portion and without using blades or vanes to actively impact the gas molecules.

摘要: A machine for generating energy by exploiting the flow of a fluid. The machine includes a first fixed or static component part or stator which defines a first cylindrical inner surface and a second outer surface. The machine further includes a second component part or rotor configured to be rotated and accommodated in the inner space confined by the first cylindrical inner surface. The first fixed or static component part or stator is configured to introduce a fluid into the inner space confined by the first inner surface through the second outer surface and first inner surface of the stator, such that the interaction between the flow of fluid introduced into the inner space and the second component part or rotor results in the second component part or rotor being rotated.

摘要: This invention, the “Internal Combustion Boundary Layer Turbine Engine” (BLTE), embodies the description of a “flat-disk radial flow turbine engine”. The BLTE uses the effects of “working fluid” or “exhaust” drag to convert the pressure of fuel combustibles to kinetic output energy in the form of a driven shaft. The BLTE application of “differentially sized flat blades” solves the problem of internal combustion and multi-stage operation for this new category of engine.
This engine offers the light weight and high power output capability of a continuous or pulsed burn-mode of a radial turbine engine. Relative to conventional radial flow turbine engines, this engine provides reduced exhaust flow, reduced emissions and offers simple, inexpensive construction with commonly available machine tools.

摘要: A super-heated self-compressed air rotary turbine driving a built-in, outside-in axial flux generator is provided for providing power to heaters in thermal communication with the walls of the turbine chambers. Moisture within the working fluid is thus heated, making steam and thereby increasing the pressure of the working fluid. The compression caused by the turbine rotation also increases temperature. The discharge of each turbine chamber is feeding a nozzle. The shaft power drives a main generator, and after passing over the turbine the air stream maintains a portion of its initial energy. The remaining energetic air stream left is then cycled to the compressor, thereby completing the cycle. A main generator driven by the turbine can remain approximately constant, regardless of the load. Input to the compressor can be regulated with the rpm of the compressor motor and the current to the heaters in the turbine.

摘要: A boundary layer turbine includes a housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet and a rotatable shaft at least partially disposed within the housing. Two or more rotor discs are coupled to the shaft in spaced relation to one another. Spacers are attached to at least a plurality of the rotor discs. The spacers are configured so as to provide a lifting force as fluid is passed over the spacers. An inner surface of the housing as well as the outer 25% of the disc surface may have spaced apart depressions formed thereon to assist in fluid flow passing more freely between the housing and the rotor discs, as well as along the outer leading edge of the disk.

摘要: The present invention includes a molten metal pump and associated components that enable gas to be released into a stream of molten metal. The gas may be released into the molten metal stream (preferably into the bottom of the stream) flowing through a passage. Such a stream may be within the pump discharge and/or within a metal-transfer conduit extending from the pump discharge. The gas is released by using a gas-transfer foot that is positioned next to and is preferably attachable to the pump base or to the metal-transfer conduit. Preferably, the conduit (and/or discharge) in which the gas is released comprises two sections: a first section having a first cross-sectional area and a second section downstream of the first section and having a second cross-sectional area, wherein the second cross sectional area is larger than the first cross-sectional area. Preferably, the gas is released into or near the second section so that the gas is released into an area of relatively lower pressure.
