Abstract: An exhaust gas aftertreatment system includes a housing assembly, a first catalyst member, and a second catalyst member. The housing assembly includes an upstream housing, a decomposition housing, a distributing housing, and a catalyst member housing. The upstream housing is centered on an upstream housing axis. The decomposition housing is coupled to the upstream housing and configured to receive exhaust gas from the upstream housing. The distributing housing is coupled to the decomposition housing and configured to receive the exhaust gas from the decomposition housing. The catalyst member housing is coupled to the distributing housing and configured to receive the exhaust gas from the distributing housing. The catalyst member housing is centered on a catalyst member housing axis that is parallel to the upstream housing axis. The first catalyst member extends within the catalyst member housing.

Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment apparatus includes a treatment cabinet and a catalyst part. To the treatment cabinet, introduced is exhaust gas of an engine which uses gas containing methane as a fuel. The catalyst part is accommodated in the treatment cabinet and oxidizes unburned methane contained in the exhaust gas. When a temperature of the catalyst part is lower than a predetermined normal operating temperature, the catalyst part oxidizes carbon monoxide contained in the exhaust gas and uses oxidation reaction heat of carbon monoxide, to thereby raise the temperature of the catalyst part up to the normal operating temperature or higher. Even when the temperature of the exhaust gas supplied to the catalyst part is lower than the normal operating temperature, it is thereby possible to quickly raise the temperature of the catalyst part up to the normal operating temperature por higher.

Abstract: A heavy duty truck includes a diesel engine that generates an exhaust gas flow and an exhaust after-treatment system for treatment of the exhaust gas flow. The heater is operated to inject supplemental heat energy into the exhaust gas flow at a rate based on a difference between a target rate of heat energy in the exhaust gas flow at an inlet to the selective catalytic reduction system and a rate of heat energy supplied to the exhaust gas flow from the diesel engine.

Abstract: An exhaust treatment system includes an exhaust line, a series of emission treatment units, and an electronic control unit. The series of emission treatment units includes a catalytic unit, a particulate filter unit, an oxidation catalytic unit, a hydrogen injection unit, and a Lean NOx Trap (LNT) for trapping select emissions. A method of operating an exhaust treatment system includes introducing a fuel to a combustion engine of a motor vehicle, directing emissions from the combustion engine to an exhaust line, and passing the emissions in the exhaust line through a series of emission treatment units on the exhaust line. The method further includes injecting hydrogen into the exhaust line via a hydrogen injection unit, where an amount of hydrogen gas injected from a hydrogen inlet line reduces the trapped emissions in the LNT to an inert gas.

Abstract: A thermal diffusion unit is fluidly connected to a combustion engine via a flue line. The thermal diffusion unit has a plurality of plates assembled in a parallel configuration, including a pair of heating plates having a heating fluid gap extending therebetween and a pair of cooling plates having a cooling fluid gap extending therebetween. A diffusion sheet is positioned between the pair of heating plates and the pair of cooling plates, such that the diffusion sheet interfaces on a first side with one of the heating plates and interfaces on an opposite side with one of the cooling plates. The diffusion sheet includes a plurality of interconnected thermal diffusion cells arranged in a repeating pattern, at least one heated passage fluidly connecting adjacent thermal diffusion cells, and at least one cooled passage fluidly connecting adjacent thermal diffusion cells.
