Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a new coolant tank that may also provide a structural element to the frame of the engine compartment. The coolant tank is comprised of a rear wall that also makes up a portion of the firewall in the engine compartment. A structural coolant tank component is engaged with the rear wall to form the coolant reservoir. The coolant reservoir can provide support to attach structural elements of the vehicle, and can also allow for improved space efficiency in the engine compartment. Further, improved access to the filling port is provided, while continued operation and desired function is maintained even at extreme vehicle tilt.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling operation of an engine of a vehicle to supply power to a power box that in turn supplies power to loads external to the vehicle. In one example, a method comprises, responsive to a request by an operator to operate an engine to power one or more loads external to the vehicle, monitoring an engine temperature and issuing an alert requesting the operator to take mitigating action to reduce the engine temperature when the engine temperature reaches a threshold temperature, and controlling a cooling fan as a function of whether or not the mitigating action is taken. In this way, fuel economy may be improved and power supply to power external loads may be optimized.

A determination is made, in response to a determination that the transient condition is not the delay condition, as to whether a period of time that has passed since a previously identified delay condition meets a time threshold. Monitoring of a health of the engine cooling system is enabled in response to a determination that the period of time meets the time threshold.
