    摘要: A modular engine design system utilizes selectively replaceable components whereby a family of related engines having varying power outputs may be produced. A first series of engines utilizes a common piston operable in a cylinder of first predetermined dimensions. The engine design may utilize a first or second crankshaft/connecting rod combination to vary the power output. A modified engine design utilizes a second cylinder in addition to the first cylinder. A second series of engines utilizes a larger piston operable in a cylinder of second predetermined dimensions. The second series of engines shares a common engine design scheme with the first series of engines. However, corresponding parts are adapted for use with the larger piston/cylinder combination. The second series of engines may likewise utilize a first or second crankshaft/connecting rod combination to vary the power output.

    摘要: A V-2 engine includes two cylinder blocks mounted to a crankcase such that the respective cylinder axes of the cylinder blocks extend at an angle to each other and merge together at the axis of a crankshaft with the angle formed between the cylinder axes being divided into two angle parts by a centerline of the crankcase passing through the axis of the crankshaft, and an auxiliary machine mounted to the crankcase on the same side as one of the cylinder blocks when viewed from the axis of the crankshaft. In order to reduce the maximum width of the engine, the cylinder blocks are offset from a symmetric position with respect to the centerline of the crankcase to such an extent that a straight line circumscribing an outer end of a head cover attached to the one cylinder block and an outer end of the auxiliary machine is in parallel to the centerline of the crankcase.

    摘要: A radial cam driven internal combustion engine has connecting rod guide pins that slide into ends of the connecting rods, allowing the connecting rods to slide freely linearly while applying side loads on the connecting rods to the crankcase. The stationary guide pins protrude out from a center ring that floats over the central drive shaft. These pins are grooved to allow the pressure inside the connecting rod to escape. Each piston dwells at top dead center long enough to create a fixed volume environment and for all the fuel in the cylinder to be consumed.

    摘要: A field replaceable unitary manifold housing for providing combustion air and combustion fuel to an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The housing includes an air purification cavity having a spaced apart air intake and air discharge. The housing also includes a filter for purifying air disposed in the air purification cavity intermediate the air intake and the air discharge. The housing also includes a hollow elongate member having a first end coupled to the filter and a second end coupled to a plenum chamber for directing the air, the plenum chamber being integral with the air purification cavity. The housing also includes a plurality of channels, each channel integral with the housing and having a first end integral with the plenum chamber and a second end coupled to a cylinder head of the engine. The air intake induces air into the air purification cavity, the induced air is purified by the filter, the hollow elongate member directs the air from the filter to the plenum chamber, and the plurality of channels direct the air from the plenum chamber to the cylinder head.

    摘要: A radial piston engine is disclosed wherein power is transferred such that the power take-off is truly balanced, where the piston runs truly parallel to the cylinder walls. This concept reduces wear of the cylinders and piston rings. The engine provides improved gas mileage due to the reduced piston drag. One unique feature is the power take-off from the piston to the flywheels. The design takes power from inside the cylinder compartment, through four transfer arms, to cams that in turn transfer the power to two flywheels. By firing complimentary cylinders 180 degrees at the same time, almost no vibration is noticed. Also, since the cylinders can fire many times per flywheel rotation, the torque which this engine produces is greater other designs. Any number of cylinders is possible. Single cylinders and two cylinder designs with chain power take-offs are also possible for lawnmowers and motorcycles.
