    摘要: A structural screw usable in multiple different substrates/materials includes a head end, a shank and a tapered end, the head end including a tool engaging part, the head end located at a first end of the shank and the tapered end located at a second end of the shank. A thread is formed along the shank, wherein the thread begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates at a first axial location along the shank that is spaced from the head end. The thread (i) is a multiple start thread formed by at least a first helical thread and a second helical thread and/or (ii) includes a thread angle of between fifteen degrees and thirty degrees. The screw may also include a reaming section with leading and trailing wedge sections and/or an asymmetric notch pattern along at least part of the thread edge.

    摘要: A single piece gutter/gutter-guard screw has a head with a shoulder integrally formed thereto and a threaded screwing body integrally formed to the shoulder. A diameter of the threaded screwing body is smaller than the largest diameter of the shoulder's bottom, and a largest diameter of a top of the shoulder is smaller than a largest diameter of the head's bottom. The screw provides a gap that is a height of the shoulder when the screw is screwed into a substrate. An attached clip (in the gap) provides support for an attached wire or object and composed of a generally L-shaped body with a top member joined to a side member. A front slit in the clip provides entrance to at least an attachment structure within the top member, configured to fit onto the screw. An attachment mechanism is in the side member.

    摘要: The present invention provides compliant screws compatible with standard threaded holes that are self-anchoring via auxetic properties. Once a screw has been twisted in place using a mating screw driver, the screw won't be able to be removed unless it is broken, its surrounding material is torn out with the screw, or unless the screw driver itself is again used to twist the screw in the opposite direction. Thus, although reusable, the screw will never come out of its hole in the presence of vibrations or other cyclic or random loading scenarios. The screws are thereby suitable for critical joint applications where screws must never come loose. Non-limiting examples include satellite fasteners, high-speed vehicle bolts, pedicle screws, and other screws used to secure medical implants within a human body.

    摘要: A method for forming a stop flange on a self-tapping screw includes locating a shank of a self-tapping screw between two threading dies, fixing one of the two threading dies and moving the other one of the two threading dies to work the shank, the external thread forming section of each of the threading dies performing threading to form an external thread on the shank, inserting the insert and the recessed corner of each of the threading dies into a top of the external thread to form a groove in the shank, and the insert of each of the threading dies gradually squeezing downward an extruded portion that is formed during formation of the groove to form a stop flange on the shank. Thus, the shank is integrally formed with the stop flange, to stop an excessive movement of the external thread.

    摘要: A solar panel attachment assembly including a purlin bent into a U-shaped channel with a mounting wall, an upright wall and a cross piece attached to the upper edge. A solar panel having a frame with a lower horizontal wall forming a mounting surface and a vertical wall forming an outer surface. An inwardly directed channel formed on the upper edge of the vertical wall surrounds and fixedly engages the edges of solar sensors. Attachment bolts with a portion of the body being threaded and a tip portion of the body having a drill bit formed therein. The drill bit has an outer diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the bolt threads, and the attachment bolts are positioned to extend through the cross piece of the purlin and through the lower horizontal wall of the cross-section to hold the solar panel in abutting engagement with the purlin.
