    摘要: A drive shaft assembly for a downhole drilling motor includes a drive shaft having a first end portion engaging a first housing and a second end portion engaging a second housing. The first end portion and the first housing form the first constant velocity joint and the second end portion and the second housing form the second constant velocity joint of the drive shaft assembly. Each end portion including a base surface having a pair of prongs extending away from the base surface and a cylindrical side wall having a plurality of ball bearings held in a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets. Each housing includes a cavity to retain respective end portions of the drive shaft. An inner side wall of each housing includes a plurality of cylindrical grooves to receive the plurality of ball bearings to transfer torque. An internal wall of the housing includes a first chamber and a second chamber to receive and retain the first prong and the second prong to transfer torque and thrust loads between the shaft and the housings.

    摘要: An inner slide surface 11 at the side of the driving shaft is formed on a plastic guide member 10 at the side of the driving shaft, which is removably mounted to a thorough hole 7 of a flange 6 at the end portion 2 of the driving shaft, and an inner slide surface 13 at the side of the driven shaft is formed on a plastic guide member 12 at the side of the driven shaft, which is removably mounted to a through hole 9 of a flange 8 at the end portion 4 of the driven shaft. A metallic rod member 14 for transmitting the torque, which removably penetrates a corresponding one of the guide member at the side of the driving shaft and a corresponding one of the guide member at the side of the driven shaft, has a first outer slide surface 16 and a second outer slide 18 surface which may each slide relative to the foregoing inner slide surfaces at the side of the driving shaft and the driven shaft respectively.A shaft coupling according to the present invention can effectively cope with the eccentricity, angular deviation and the axial movement between the driving shaft side and the driven shaft side and efficiently and smoothly transmit the torque while being easy in maintenance, repair and assembly.

    摘要: A shaft coupling is disclosed which permits an angle between two coupled rotating elements. A coupling half is adapted to be connected to each of the elements. Intermediate coupling members are arranged between the coupling halves. These intermediate coupling members are connected through resilient joints to a first coupling half and, also to the second coupling half. Each of the intermediate coupling members directly connected to the first coupling half through a first pair of diametrically opposite resilient joints are also connected in an angularly offset manner to the second coupling half through a second pair of diametrically opposite resilient joints.

    摘要: A constant velocity joint (200) for interconnecting a first shaft (202) to a second shaft (204) for bidirectional drive is provided. The constant velocity joint employs a carrier (218) which is formed with a series of apertures for receiving elastomeric bearing assemblies (220). The elastomeric bearing assemblies are provided with a spherical elastomeric bearing (60) and a cylindrical elastomeric bearing (48). Certain of the elastomeric bearing assemblies connect the carrier to one of the rotated members while the remaining elastomeric bearing assemblies connect the other rotating member to the carrier. The axis of symmetry of the carrier (218) will always bisect the angle of misalignment between the two rotating shafts to assure that a constant velocity joint is achieved.

    摘要: In a compensating coupling having flanges (1, 1', 3) connected with each other by a plurality of bolts (2), one of the flanges is connected with a rotating drive member and the other with a rotating driven member. The bolts (2) consist of a journal (8') fastened to one of the two flanges (1, 1', 3) and a sleeve (15) fastened to the other flange (1, 1', 3). The sleeve is supported on the journal by an axially vaulted surface formed on a spherical ring (20) displaceably located on the journal. A high torque may be transmitted by the coupling even when the drive shaft is tilted with respect to the driven shaft by virtue of the fact that the spherical ring is supported in an axially displaceable manner with respect to the sleeve and that at least one compression spring (13) biases the spherical ring back into its initial position.

The coupling also includes connecting members associated in pairs. Each of the plurality of articulating components is connected to an adjacent other of the plurality of articulating components with an articulating joint. In preferred embodiments, the articulating joint is a ball-and-socket mechanism. The articulating components include a body having a first end and a second end, a ball connected to the first end the body and a socket connected to the second end of the body. A locking collar is connected to the socket to secure the ball portion of an adjacent articulating component to the socket.
