    摘要: A leaf spring system includes a main leaf pack having a main leaf spring including a first end, a second and a first surface and a second opposing surfaces extending therebetween. An auxiliary stage leaf pack is arranged at the first. The auxiliary stage leaf pack includes a first surface portion and a second, opposing surface portion. A spacer is arranged between the first surface of the main leaf spring and the second surface portion of the auxiliary stage leaf pack. The spacer includes first axial end, a second axial end. A reinforcement plate is arranged at the first surface portion of the auxiliary stage leaf pack substantially aligned with the spacer. The reinforcement plate includes a first end section, a second end section. At least one of the first end section and the second end section extends beyond a corresponding one of the first and second axial ends.

    摘要: An improved leaf spring clamp is provided, particularly for use with composite material leaf springs, to securely fix the position of the leaf spring relative to a wheel axle or other suspension system member, such as in the suspension system of a motor vehicle. The leaf spring clamp comprises a rigid clamp plate. The clamp base forms a channel adapted to receive the wedge insert. The inner surface of at least one side wall of the clamp base fairs from both ends into a channel-widening concavity, preferably at the longitudinal midpoint of the channel. The wedge insert forms an inner channel adapted to laterally jacket the leaf spring. The outer surface of the wedge insert substantially fills the clamp base channel, providing a convexity adapted to register with the channel-widening concavity of the clamp base. The clamp plate attaches to the clamp base to clamp the leaf spring between them under a pre-load. The clamp plate and clamp base together comprise pin-and-hole means such that they can easily be attached to each other to yield a degree of compressive pre-load on the resilient insert.

    摘要: A device for clamping together at least two leaves of a leaf spring assembly and a resilient plate member in superimposed interfacial contact comprises at least one clasp adapted to embrace the leaves and the resilient member. A closure plate or bar is secured to the free ends of the clasp to impose a clamping force on the members embraced by the clasp. The closure plate or bar is formed with a raised surface which co-operates with an adjacent surface of a member embraced by the clasp to permit angular movement of the clasp relative to the embraced members.

    摘要: An improved spring shackle assembly is utilized in an improved vehicle suspension system and includes a pair of socket assemblies which connect an end portion of a leaf spring with a mounting bracket. Each of the socket assemblies includes a rigid metal housing having an inner surface which defines a socket chamber in which a bearing liner is disposed. Each of the bearing liners encloses a spherical end portion of a ball stud. Each ball stud has a generally cylindrical shank which extends into an opening formed in an end portion of the spring. In order to tend to minimize the sideward load applied to the mounting bracket, the bearing liners have spherical surfaces which cooperate with the spherical head ends of the ball studs so that offsetting axial or sidewise forces are applied to the bearing liners by the ball studs. The socket assembly has a unitary construction to facilitate assembly and to minimize the chance for dirt and other foreign materials to enter the socket chamber. In one embodiment of the invention, the bearing lines are integrally formed of a suitable polymeric material. In another embodiment of the invention the bearing liners are formed in two sections. One of the two bearing sections carries a larger bearing load and is formed of a material having a higher modulus of elasticity than the other bearing section.

    摘要: A main landing gear assembly for an aircraft has an upper beam and a lower beam. The proximal ends of the upper and lower beams are each connected to a trunnion assembly that is mounted on the fuselage or wing of the aircraft. The distal ends of the upper and lower beams are each affixed to an axel support structure on which a main wheel of the landing gear assembly is mounted. In the gear assembly, the upper beam and the lower beam are coplanar and act together, in combination, to accommodate a planar flexure of the gear assembly during aircraft takeoffs and landings.
