    Abstract: A vacuum pump comprises an inlet flange for connecting to a vacuum chamber, where the inlet flange comprises a plurality of apertures for receiving a plurality of protruding fixing elements extending from the vacuum chamber. The protruding fixing elements comprise an enlarged retaining portion at an end remote from the vacuum chamber and a fastener receiving portion having at least one radial dimension that is smaller than a corresponding dimension of the enlarged retaining portion. A fastening mechanism is provided that comprises a plurality of slots each extending from a same side of a plurality of apertures. The fastening mechanism is configured to be rotatable between a mounting position in which the apertures are aligned with the protruding fixing elements and a sealing position in which the slots are aligned with the protruding fixing elements.

    Abstract: A pipe connector includes a connecting structure configured to secure a first section of hose, pipe, or tube to an adjacent second section of hose, pipe, or tube positioned adjacent to the first section at a joint between the first section and the second section. The connecting structure includes at least one segment of a thermally adaptive material. The at least segment is configured to undergo a shape change as a result of thermal cycling such the shape change causes the connecting structure to form a leak-free seal between the first section and the second section at the joint.

    Abstract: A sealing device for sealing a space defined between respective end portions of an adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members of a conditioned air duct having a generally rectangular cross-section. The sealing device includes a substantially planar first plate member having a surface configured for placement in face-to-face relation with corresponding adjacent planar surfaces of the adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members. A leg member extends away from a generally central portion of the first plate member and is generally perpendicular thereto. The leg member includes second and third orthogonal plate members extending in respective orthogonal planes and having respectively orthogonal surface portions. The second and third orthogonal plate members are configured and dimensioned to engage corresponding respective adjacent orthogonal inner wall surface portions of the duct when the first plate member is positioned on the planar surface portions of the adjacent pair of orthogonal flange members.
