Abstract: Example embodiments relate to a device for heating a medium and air. A heating source generates thermal energy by the combustion of a fuel-air-mixture. A heat exchanger serves to heat air passed along an exterior side, has an interior space into which flue gas generated during combustion of the fuel-air-mixture flows, has a fin structure on the exterior side, and transmits thermal energy to the medium pipe. The electric heating element generates thermal energy, the heat exchanger having integral structures for accommodating the electric heating element and the medium pipe. The medium pipe and the electric heating element are guided around the interior space of the heat exchanger.

Abstract: Air heating and potable water systems have a thermostat with a computer processing unit (CPU), a hot water heater, a hydronic air handler, and a primary pump controlling flow of hot water from the water heater into the hydronic air handler, which has a hydronic coil, a blower, and a first control panel having a CPU in operative communicates with the thermostat. The hydronic coil receives hot water from the water heater to warm air passing over the hydronic coil. The primary pump is in operative communication with the first control panel and an indicator of hot water flow. The indicator of hot water flow is in operative communication with either the thermostat or the first control panel, and any CPU in the system stores a priority instruction, which upon an indication of hot water flow deactivates or delays activation of the primary pump for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: A variable heatable radiator for use in a fluid circuit containing coolant therein, and which can generate substantial amounts of heat to heat larger spaces, such as in a home or business, while utilizing minimal power to run, and which can be utilized in various implementations and configurations. The radiator can be selectively activated or de-activated by, for example, a cell phone or the like whereby the fluid circuit in the radiator can be monitored for time of use, temperature and cost of use. The circuit possesses at least one opening defined therein on sides of the radiator and top and bottom thereof which is in communication with the circuit, whereby a heating element can be inserted to heat the fluid.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides hot water heating systems and methods for heating the atmosphere within a predefined area. The systems include a hybrid water heating and storage apparatus configured to heat and store water including a heat pump and an electric heating tank. The systems include a recirculating pump configured to selectively draw a hot output flow of heated water from the electric heating tank, pass the heated water through a heat exchange fixture to heat the atmosphere within a predefined area, and direct the water back to the electric heating tank from the heat exchange fixture as a cold input flow. The systems further include thermostat electrically coupled to the recirculating pump and positioned within the predefined area configured to sense the temperature of the atmosphere within the first predefined area and selective operate of the recirculating pump based on a sensed temperature and a user selected temperature.

Abstract: A system and method for conditioning air within an air handling system of a building is provided. The building has a hot water source and a cold water source. The conditioning system includes at least one heating-cooling unit connected to the air handling system, a primary water storage device, at least one heat pump, and a controller. The heating-cooling unit, which includes at least one chilled beam, is operable to transfer heat into or out of air passing within the air handling system of the building. The primary water storage device is operable to store a volume of water within a predetermined temperature range. The primary water storage device is in communication with the hot water source and the cold water source. The heat pump is connected to the primary water storage device and the chilled beam. The controller is adapted to selectively drive the heat pump to transfer heat between the primary water storage device and the chilled beam. The controller is also adapted to selectively control the system to transfer heat into or out of the primary water storage device to maintain the water within the primary storage device within the predetermined temperature range.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for supplying domestic potable hot water and also heating an air space using a single combination unit having a common water tank and heat source for heating water therein. The water tank has an outlet for the supply of heated potable water and an inlet for the replenishment of same with cold water. A portion of the hot water is recirculated through a heat exchanger mounted in an air handler or housing. The air handler has a blower for passing the room air through the heat exchanger to heat the air space. The temperature drop of the water circulating through the heat exchanger is limited to 6.degree. F. by using a low pressure drop heat exchanger and a relatively high flow rate circulating pump, so the supply of potable hot water is always sufficient. Air heating is suspended if the heated air drops below 115.degree. F.
