    摘要: A heat exchanger that can mechanically automatically control a level of cooling water according to heat generation of the fuel cell. The heat exchanger includes a housing having a cooling water inlet and an outlet connected to a fuel cell stack, a moving plate which moves reciprocally in the housing and discharges cooling water filled in the housing to the stack when it moves in a one direction and when it receives a steam pressure from the stack it moves in an opposite direction, and an elastic member that applies a force to the moving plate in the one direction. The heat exchanger can automatically maintain the level of cooling water despite a difference in heat generated between a full and a partial load operation of the fuel cell obviating complicated electronics such as a thermo-sensor, a valve, or a controller. Also, under a partial load, the exposure of flow channels to superheated steam is avoided, thereby extending the lifetime of the fuel cell.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for the transfer of heat at a lower temperature to another fluid at a higher temperature, using a rotary heat exchanger and circulating the two fluids through said heat exchanger wherein a third fluid is circulated. The third fluid is normally a gas, compressed within the rotor by centrifugal action, with accompanying temperature increase, and heat is removed from said third fluid to a second fluid during and after compression; heat is added to said third fluid from a first fluid during and after expansion. A fourth fluid may be also circulated within said rotor, for removing heat from said third fluid before and during early part of compression to increase the weight of said third fluid within the compression side of the said rotor, thus improving the circulation of said third fluid within said rotor. Said second fluid, said first fluid, and said fourth fluid may be either liquids or gases as desired, including water. Said third fluid may be carbon dioxide.

    摘要: This invention has reference to heat exchangers for the indirect heating, drying or cooling of more or less moist, solid or semisolid materials and which comprise a stationary heat exchanger jacket within which a heat exchanger body is mounted for rotatable movement, said body comprising a hollow cylinder provided with a row of outwardly projecting annular disc-like hollow bodies for receiving a suitable heat exchanger carrier medium and vane means on the hollow bodies for conveying the material to be treated through the chamber and for turning and stirring about this material. An essential feature of the invention involves interconnecting the hollow bodies at the periphery of the hollow cylinder to form a row in series, or two separate rows in series, connected in series with a through-passage of the hollow cylinder and having a flow path extending peripherally forwards and backwards between a medium intake and a medium discharge located at the periphery of the hollow cylinder.

    摘要: A rotary heat exchanger comprising an array of closely spaced parallel annular thermally conductive fins mounted coaxially for rotation as a unit and a plurality of thermally conductive heat exchange tubes extending through the fins. The fins are arranged and rotated at a speed to convey a fluid outwardly between the fins and provide optimum heat exchange between said fluid and another fluid in the heat exchange tubes. The heat exchange tubes are constructed to provide substantially maximum area of fluid contact surface interiorly of the tubes to minimize resistance to heat flow between the surface and the fluid in said tubes, and means are provided operable in conjunction with the fins to effect a substantial increase in fluid flow outwardly between the fins. Fluid distributing means is also provided to limit fluid flow through only the number of fins in the array required to provide optimum utilization of the heat exchanger according to the load requirement.

    摘要: A rotary table is described for use in producing flakes of solid material from solutions or from molten metal baths. In particular the invention is described with reference to the preparation of sodium-lead alloys. In the specific embodiment molten sodium-lead alloy is deposited on the surface of a rotating flat table. Indirect heat exchange is established between the molten metal and a fluid circulating underneath the table surface. Discharge orifices are provided in a chamber below the table surface at a multiplicity of points across its width. Uniform discharge of heat exchange fluid at all points across the undersurface of the table is accomplished by an equal pressure drop being maintained across all of the orifices.

    摘要: A heat exchanger for a product fluid comprises a rotor and a shell, one of which rotates. The rotor comprises a hollow shaft and hollow disk-like members attached to and communicating with the shaft which members and shaft form a tortuous conduit for a heat transfer fluid. The hollow disk-like members are not flat but have their central openings which attach to the shaft displaced above their distal edges. Similarly shaped disk-like partitions attached to the shell by support means and interleaved with the hollow disk-like members form together with the shell, rotor shaft, and hollow disk-like members a second tortuous conduit for a product fluid which product fluid is separated from the heat transfer fluid by the heat conductive walls of the rotor shaft and hollow disk-like members. The heat exchanger is particularly useful for conducting a reaction of a high viscosity liquid under closely controlled temperature conditions and continuous agitation.
