    摘要: A dual purpose missile storage and launch tube device includes a tubular housing and a front cover removably covering a first end of the tubular housing, the first end defining an opening for firing a missile. A rear cover assembly removably covers a second end of the tubular housing opposite the first end. A safety mechanism is attached to the tubular housing and includes a sliding member extending through a longitudinal passageway formed in the safety mechanism. A forward portion of the sliding member engages the front cover. A rearward portion of the sliding member engages a fastener locking the rear cover assembly onto the tubular housing. The rearward portion of the sliding member is disengaged from the fastener when the front cover is removed from the first end of the tubular housing for unlocking the rear cover assembly from the tubular housing.

    摘要: A payload launch system includes a launch tube, payload, rocket tube, pressurized motor assembly, and control system. The motor assembly has a launch actuator and an accumulator housing containing compressed gas. The accumulator housing defines a vent opening having a closure. The control system transmits an actuation signal to the actuator in response to a launch request signal to open the closure and cause a discharge of pressure into the launch tube. This causes the rocket tube to launch from the launch tube to a threshold altitude in a single gaseous thrust phase. A method includes deploying a launch system, transmitting a launch actuation signal to the launch actuator via a control system, and opening a closure to allow compressed gas to enter the launch tube, thereby launching the rocket tube from the launch tube to a threshold altitude in the single gaseous thrust phase.

A wedge ring having a generally cylindrical body is accommodated by the first and second central apertures and is configured to operatively engage the cover member. A mechanical input is operative to reversibly rotate the wedge ring about the central axis such that a rotation of the wedge ring in a first direction urges the cover member in the axial direction into a sealed position.

    摘要: A cover closes off the open end of a missile launch canister. The cover isesigned so as to seal off the interior compartment of the canister to protect the missile or the like contained within it from moisture, contaminants and the conflagration created by nearby fired missiles. The cover is designed to maintain a minimum vapor pressure within the canister for storage purposes and to burst prior to contact by the nose of the missile contained within the canister upon the occurrence of a predetermined accumulation of vapor pressure within the canister after firing of the missile or the like. The cover is formed of a laminate of fiberglass cloths having an electromagnetic interference shield and vapor barrier adhered to the interior surface of the cover. A layer of rubber protects the fiberglass laminate from scratching or puncturing and a polyurethane layer over the rubber layer provides a moisture seal as well as insulation from other contaminants. An aluminum ring is used to secure the cover to the canister.

    摘要: A missile is housed in a launcher from which it is launched by efflux gases from a thrust motor of the missile. A closure device is secured by retaining screws in a position in which it closes off the rear end of the missile and embodies a thrust generating cartridge which is fired to propel the device clear of the rear end of the missile. The closure device comprises a demand cap and base plate and the cartridge generates thrust first to release the cap and plate from the screws and then to displace the domed cap relative to the base plate to bring them to a disposition in which the momentum of the domed cap is imparted to the complete closure device thereby to propel the cap and the plate together at velocity determined by the motion of the domed cap relative to the base plate.

    摘要: A missile launch cannister end cap removal device utilizing the pressure pulse of a traveling shock wave within the cannister is disclosed. A pressure chamber, the interior of which is separated from the interior of the cannister by a diaphragm having a selected rupture pressure. Gas pressure is generated in the chamber by the firing of an explosive charge at the appropriate time in the missile launch sequence. The diaphragm is ruptured by the pressure developed in the chamber introducing a traveling shock wave into the interior of the missile cannister. The pressure pulse of the shock wave removes the end caps fitted over the open ends of the cannister.
