    Abstract: A drift bar is lowered into a well. The drift bar has a density that is less than a density of a wellbore fluid residing in the well. A tubular is lowered into the well below a surface level of the wellbore fluid residing in the well. The tubular defines an inner bore having an inner diameter that is greater than an outer diameter of the drift bar. The drift bar is positioned to pass through the inner bore of the tubular as the tubular is lowered into the well. After the tubular is positioned below the surface level, an absence or presence of the drift bar floating at the surface level is detected. An absence or presence of a restriction in the inner bore of the tubular is determined in response to detecting the presence or absence, respectively, of the drift bar floating at the surface level.

    Abstract: A gauge apparatus includes a body member, one or more gauge arms biased outwardly from the body member for engagement with a wall of the elongated space, and one or more deformable regions. The gauge apparatus is configured so that a variation in an outward extension of each gauge arm from the body member induces a change in strain in a corresponding one of the one or more deformable regions. A gauge system includes the gauge apparatus and an optical fiber attached to the gauge apparatus so that a strain in each deformable region of the gauge apparatus is transferred to a corresponding sensor portion of the optical fiber. The gauge system may be used for making real-time measurements of a geometry of an elongated space such as a wellbore of an oil and gas well.

    Abstract: An apparatus is selectively controlled to insert a check pin into a fastener hole in a workpiece surface and remove the check pin from the fastener hole. The apparatus is a pneumatically actuated apparatus having a pair of press actuators that are selectively operated to press the check pin attached to a check pin holder of the apparatus into a fastener hole in a workpiece, and a pair of remove actuators that are selectively operated to push against the workpiece surface and move the apparatus away from the workpiece surface to remove the check pin attached to the check pin holder from the fastener hole in the workpiece.

    Abstract: A method to test a size of a hole includes causing a test probe to vibrate and contact multiple portions of an edge of the hole for a testing cycle when the test probe is inserted into the hole, measuring displacement of the test probe, by a sensor coupled to the test probe, as the test probe makes contact with the multiple portions of the edge of the hole, estimating a measurement of the size of the hole based on the displacement of the test probe and reference to calibrated measurements of reference holes, and outputting a notification indicative of an estimation of the measurement.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a device for detecting wall abrasion of a solid-filling feeding well and a detection method thereof. The device comprises a well wall abrasion detector, a horizontal displacement meter, a vertical displacement monitor, and a limit guide rod. One end of the limit guide rod is connected to the well wall abrasion detector. The signal output terminal of the well wall abrasion detector is connected to the signal input terminal of the horizontal displacement meter, and the other end of the limit guide rod passes through the vertical displacement monitor for slidable setting. This disclosure mainly utilizes a resistance strain displacement sensor to detect the abrasion and deformation degree of the well wall, determines the position of damages with the vertical displacement monitor, and draws wall abrasion curves by using the obtained data. The device provided is easy to use, has low cost, has high reliability, and can effectively detect the wall abrasion condition of a solid-filling feeding well, thereby providing a basis for ensuring the working efficiency of the feeding well.
