    摘要: A non-dispersive photoacoustic gas detector includes an infrared light source, a first closed chamber, a first acoustic sensor in fluid communication with the first closed chamber, a second closed chamber, and a second acoustic sensor in fluid communication with the second closed chamber. The first closed chamber comprises a plurality of windows that are substantially transparent to infrared light from the infrared light source. The second closed chamber comprises at least one window that is substantially transparent to infrared light from the infrared light source, and the first closed chamber is arranged in series with the second closed chamber between the infrared light source and the second closed chamber.

The system can include a light source operating at any one of several wavelengths within the water absorption bands at wavelengths such as 1.4, 1.9 and 2.7 μm and a detector that measures the transmitted light intensity through the HFC samples. In one variation, the light source is a tunable diode laser and the moisture level is determined by direct absorption and harmonic spectroscopy. Related techniques, apparatus, systems, and articles are also described.

    摘要: This invention relates to a multi-component absorbance monitor, and the object is to provide a general-purpose and highly accurate compact absorbance monitor. Disclosed is an absorbance monitor including a light source, a sample cell and a plurality of detectors as elements, wherein a light collecting member is arranged between the light source and one detector, and an inside wall of the light collecting member has a site for guiding a part of light from the light source, that is, a light guiding opening, and light from the light guiding opening enters another detector. Preferably, the light collecting member lies between the light source and the sample cell. Preferably, an optical element used for another detector described above is arranged in the light guiding opening and adjacently to a light path formed by the light collecting member.

    摘要: A stable isotope analyzer is concentration calibrated by measuring relative proportions of isotopes in a measurement gas. The measurement gas is a component of a gaseous mixture consisting of the measurement gas and one other gas or a mixture of gases containing none of the measurement gas. First, a mixture is produced with a relatively high concentration of the measurement gas and known isotope proportions. The concentration of the measurement gas in the other gas is determined and the isotope proportion is measured to determine a point on a calibration curve (measured isotope proportion values vs. measured concentration values). At least one further point on the calibration curve is determined by diluting the measurement gas in the mixture by introducing a gas or gaseous mixture containing no measurement gas. The reduced concentration is determined and the isotope proportion measured to determine another point on the calibration curve. The steps of reducing the measurement gas concentration in the gaseous mixture, measuring the measurement gas concentration, and measuring the isotope proportion are preferably repeated a plurality of times to plot the calibration curve more accurately.

    摘要: A measuring apparatus based on the NDIR process. Pulsed infrared light traverses in two parallel optical beams (3, 4) initially a cell (6) filled with .sup.13 CO.sub.2 and a cell (7) filled with .sup.12 CO.sub.2 and then, in parallel, two cells (8, 9) which are filled with the gas sample to be analyzed. Cells (8, 9) together with a capacitor microphone (15) serving as the pressure converting means form an optopneumatic receiver (17). By regulating the pressure in cell (6) the minimum of the pressure conversion signal is investigated and related to a correspondingly obtained reference value. The simply constructed apparatus permits a .sup.13 CO.sub.2 breathing test to be performed inexpensively.

    摘要: A method is disclosed of making an on-line gas analysis of a multicomponent gas emission flow by (a) continuously sequestering a sample flow from the gas emission flow, which sample flow has been filtered to substantially eliminate solid or liquid particles, diluted to lower its dew point to below room temperature, and changed in either temperature and/or pressure to be substantially the same in temperature and pressure as that of gases used to create reference transmission frequency spectral data deployed in step (d); (b) continuously irradiating the sample flow with an electromagnetic radiation beam while modulating the amplitude of infrared frequencies in the audio frequency range of the beam, either prior to or immediately subsequent to irradiation of the sample flow, to produce electromagnetic signals having discernible amplitude variations resulting from spectral interference patterns; (c) detecting and collecting the signals at a sufficiently high rate to substantially completely distinguish between adjacent spectral pattern amplitude peaks without mutual spectral interference and to permit analysis of the signals in real time; and (d) analyzing the signals in real time by (i) mathematically manipulating the signals in accordance with Beer's Law to create reformed background-corrected data, and (ii) applying reference transmission frequency spectral data to the reformed data for each suspected gaseous component to give a linear quantitative measure of the presence of each and every suspected gas component in the gas emission flow.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting gas concentration using an infrared absorption gas detector. Noise due to vibration is substantially reduced by integrating the voltage produced by the gas detector with an integrator having an adjustable time constant. The time constant is adjusted to a long value during times when the gas concentration is remaining relatively constant. When the gas concentration is changing substantially, the time constant is adjusted to a relatively short value to allow the output of the integrator to better follow the changes.
