    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a phased array antenna unit, a phased array antenna and a radar system. The phased array antenna unit includes: a first dielectric substrate; a radiator, and a plurality of decoupling metal patches. The plurality of decoupling metal patches and the radiator are arranged on the same surface of the first dielectric substrate. The side-by-side direction of the decoupling metal patches is perpendicular to the direction of the electric field intensity when the radiator is operating, and the radiator is disposed between any two adjacent decoupling metal patches.

    Abstract: An antenna apparatus and a method of operating the antenna apparatus can include a group of receive antenna elements and a transmit antenna array comprising transmit antenna elements, wherein the transmit antenna array is located centrally in a phased array aperture that includes the transmit array antenna and the plurality of receive antenna elements. An isolation area can isolate the transmit antenna array from the receive antenna elements in the phased array aperture, and the phased array aperture can operate with a hybrid dual mode comprising a radar mode and an active beaming steering mode. The radar mode can be a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar mode, and the beamforming mode can be an antenna beamforming mode.

    Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to a radar system for use in millimeter wave applications. The radar system includes a lighting device, such as a light bulb or an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The radar system further includes an array of transmit elements to transmit at least one transmit signal, where at least one transmit signal reflects off of at least one object to generate at least one receive signal. The array of transmit elements is configured around at least a first portion of a perimeter of the lighting device. Also, the radar system includes an array of receive elements to receive at least one receive signal, where the array of receive elements is configured around at least a second portion of the perimeter of the lighting device.

    Abstract: A two-dimensional phased subarray MIMO radar apparatus includes a transmission array and a reception array. The transmission array is configured to emit transmission signals, which are orthogonal to each other, towards a target object and extends in a first direction. Moreover, the transmission array includes a plurality of transmission phased subarrays. The reception array is configured to receive reflected signals, which are reflected from the target object, among the emitted transmission signals and extends in a second direction intersecting the first direction. Moreover, the reception array includes a plurality of reception phased subarrays. Each of the plurality of transmission phased subarrays includes a plurality of transmission antennas. Each of the plurality of reception phased subarrays includes a plurality of reception antennas. A first transmission phased subarray and a second transmission phased subarray are adjacent transmission phased subarrays among the plurality of transmission phased subarrays. A spacing from an end of the first transmission phased subarray in the first direction to an end of the second transmission phased subarray in the first direction is a first spacing. The first spacing is greater than or equal to an aperture of each of the plurality of transmission phased subarrays.
