    摘要: An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer. The photosensitive layer includes a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer. The charge generating layer contains a phthalocyanine pigment and a first resin. A ratio of the mass of the phthalocyanine pigment to the mass of the first resin is greater than 2.0 and less than 3.5. A ratio A830/A783 of a second absorbance A830 to a first absorbance A783 of the charge generating layer is at least 0.97 and no greater than 1.10. The first absorbance A783 is an absorbance of the charge generating layer with respect to first light with a wavelength of 783 nm. The second absorbance A830 is an absorbance of the charge generating layer with respect to second light with a wavelength of 830 nm.

    摘要: Provided is an electrophotographic apparatus which uses a light emitting diode array as an exposure unit and exposes a photosensitive member to a quantity of light from the LED array whose average light quantity satisfies 0.8×Emin or more and 1.1×Emin or less on condition that a normalized radius of curvature R of a normalized graph derived from the E-V curve of the photosensitive member has a minimum value of 0.24 or less, and a light quantity at the minimum value of the normalized radius of curvature R is Emin [μJ/cm2]. This electrophotographic apparatus prevents both the occurrence of image unevenness due to light quantity variation among the elements of the LED array and the generation of ghost images due to a rest potential.

    摘要: Shaping a photoconductive drum includes preparing a dispersion having a charge generation composition and dipping an elongated support element into the dispersion. Withdrawing from the dispersion portions of the support element at different speeds results in different thicknesses of charge generation composition on the support element. Faster withdrawal results in thicker charge generation composition than does slower withdrawal. Portions with thicker composition provide denser optical densities compared to thinner composition allowing tailoring the photoconductive drum to compensate for imperfect optical scanning systems. Coating the support element with a charge transport layer occurs next, then curing. Oxidation of the support element may occur prior to application of the charge generation composition. A protective overcoat may also exist over the charge transport layer.
