摘要: The present invention relates to a snapshot system for a data storage system including a host that communicates with a cache memory, source storage, target storage, and metadata, including a source storage for active data, a target storage to store migrated snapshot data, first metadata (e.g., bitmaps and log files with pointers) to indicate when and to locate where the first snapshot data is in the target storage, and second metadata (e.g., bitmaps and log files pointers) to indicate when and to locate where the second snapshot data is in the target storage wherein the first metadata and the second metadata locate the same snapshot data in the target storage. The invention also relates to destaging data so as to maintain data consistency including reading the metadata for all of the snapshots into a host memory, searching the metadata to identify snapshots that require original data to be destaged, destaging the original data to the target storage, and updating the metadata to locate the original data and indicate completion of target destage operation.

摘要: Disclosed is a technique for applying changes back to an original copy of data to reduce an amount of data transferred. A first indicator is maintained for each block of data in a first storage to indicate whether the block of data has been updated in the first storage since the block of data was last transferred to a second storage. A second indicator is maintained for each block of data in the second storage to indicate whether the block of data has been updated in the second storage since the block of data in the second storage was overwritten by a corresponding block of data in the first storage. Upon receiving a reverse restore operation, each block of data in the second storage for which a second indicator has been set to indicate that the block of data has been updated is transferred to the first storage and each block of data in the second storage that corresponds to a block of data in the first storage for which a first indicator has been set to indicate that the block of data in the first storage has been updated is transferred to the first storage.

摘要: Aspects of the invention provide for at least one first data portion of a first storage device in a system to be updated to a second storage and further replicating the update to a second data storage portion of the second storage device if a substantial system error fails to occur during the updating of the first data storage portion. Aspects can, for example, include facilitating restoration of a primary or secondary volume of a primary storage device or of a first or second secondary storage via secondary storage device copying, and/or alternative, alternating or internal/external application driven first and second (and/or further) secondary storage portion utilization. Aspects can also include state driven synchronization or re-synchronization of local and remote copies, or one or more of storage devices utilized can, for example, include a disk array.

摘要: In a semiconductor integrated circuit device, a command decoder 8 is adapted to receive not only an external command but also an internal command. An ECC controller 6 has a command generator and an address generator. When the command decoder 8 decodes an external entry command, the command generator instructs encoding to an ECC-CODEC circuit 7 and the address generator sequentially produces addresses which are supplied to a memory array. The ECC-CODEC circuit 7 produces check bits for error detection/correction with reference to information data of the memory array. Upon completion an encoding operation of writing the check bits into a predetermined region of the memory array, the ECC controller 6 delivers an end signal to the command decoder as the internal command to make a super self-refresh control circuit 9 start a super self-refresh operation.

摘要: Efficient buffer cache utilization frees a data buffer as soon as data buffer processing is completed, and without losing association of the freed data buffer and a descriptor buffer. Separate free buffer link lists identify the freed data buffer and any freed descriptor buffer. The data buffer is rapidly processed then freed generally before completion of processing of the descriptor buffer, freeing the processed associated data buffer before the associated descriptor buffer is freed. The association of the processed free data buffer and the descriptor buffer may be ended to enable the more frequent use of the large capacity data buffer for other update requests.
