摘要: A micro-monitor for use in the monitoring of database environments is provided. In an illustrative implementation, a micro-monitor comprises a graphical user interface (GUI) having controls for navigation of information, controls to control database environments, a display area for displaying monitoring information about the database environments, and controls to maximize the display area to the size of conventional applications. When executed in a computing environment having an operating display space, the micro-monitor occupies a fraction of the operating display space which is occupied by other executing computing applications. In operation, the micro-monitor, accepts configuration variables for use to set monitoring thresholds, alarms, and display layout. Based on the configuration information, the micro-monitor will cooperate with the database environments which it is monitoring to obtain operational information for processing. The operational information is processed according to the configuration to generate desired monitoring information for display in the micro-monitor display area.

摘要: A system comprising an online database for personal, medical, appointment and other information; means for accessing that database using SSL encrypted links across the global internet; a portable ID card containing written and encoded information that is formatted to support an updateable provider printed and authenticated appliqunull; and multiple means for delivering the information contained in the database to a wide variety of recipients on-demand is proposed. The intent of the system is to allow subscribers and providers to privately collaborate on treatments, while still allowing rapid and easy access to certain critical information in the event of an immediate need. The subscriber has the ability to designate service providers and enable their access. Furthermore, the system enables access for multiple providers to share pertinent information about the subscriber and their conditions and treatments while still restricting how that information can be modified. The system provides for the attachment of multiple types of associated documents or records and includes a complete activity logging utility for historical and archival purposes. Additionally, the system provides a utility for scheduling future appointments and automatic reminders that are trigger or time based can be delivered to subscribers and/or providers by the system.

摘要: In an information/call center where calls are received, requesting information concerning entities, goods and services, directions to a given destination, etc., data is collected in processing such calls. In accordance with the invention, the collected data is analyzed to generate dynamic data to supplement and/or improve the traditional databases, typically searched by an operator for responses to the information requests. In providing a public information assistance service, such dynamic data may concern, e.g., the most popular movies, restaurants, requested categories, etc. In providing a personalized information assistance service, such dynamic data may concern, e.g., previous telephone connections made for a subscriber, the most popular telephone connections requested by a subscriber, etc. In addition, based on the past search behavior, nullfuzzynull logic is developed for correlating between search terms. When one search term is used in a search, the correlated search term may be suggested for adoption, in accordance with the fuzzy logic.

摘要: Integrating the partitioning of physical design structures with the physical design process can result in more efficient query execution. When candidate structures are evaluated for their relative benefit, one or more partitioning methods is associated with each structure so that the benefits of various partitioning methods are taken into consideration when the structures are selected for use by the database. A pool of partitioned candidate structures is formed by proposing and evaluating the benefit of candidate structures with associated partitioning on a per query basis. The selected partitioned candidates are then used to construct generalized structures with associated partitioning methods that are evaluated for their benefit over the workload. Those generalized structures are added to the pool of partitioned candidate structures. From this augmented pool of partitioned candidate structures, an optimal set of partitioned structures is enumerated for use by the database system. The space of possible structures can be limited by a preprocessing step that sets up constraints on the column-subsets that can be the basis for candidate structures.

摘要: A method of estimating cardinality of a join of tables using multi-column density values and additionally using coarser density values of a subset of the multi-column density attributes. In one embodiment, the subset of attributes for the coarser densities is a prefix of the set of multi-column density attributes. A number of tuples from each table that participate in the join may be estimated using densities of the subsets. The cardinality of the join can be estimated using the multi-column density for each table and the estimated number of tuples that participate in the join from each table.
