Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and processor-readable storage media for proximity boot control using light-based communications are provided herein. An example computer-implemented method includes maintaining information associated with at least one device, where the maintained information identifies at least one designated location for the at least one device. The method includes obtaining a request from the at least one device to perform a boot process, where the request is transmitted by the at least one device using light emitted by one or more light sources associated with a light-based network. The method also includes identifying a current location of the at least one device based on the request and determining whether to allow the at least one device to perform the boot process based at least in part on the maintained information and the current location.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for architecture-based power management for a memory device are described. Aspects include operating a first memory bank within a memory device in a first mode and a second memory bank within the memory device in a second mode. The memory device may receive a power down command for the first memory bank while operating the first memory bank in the first mode and the second memory bank in the second mode and switch the first memory bank from the first mode to a first low power mode while maintaining the second memory bank in the second mode. The first low power mode corresponds to less power consumption by the first memory bank than the first mode. In some cases, switching the first memory bank from the first mode to the first low power mode includes deactivating circuitry dedicated to the first memory bank.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to control operation of a power supply unit (PSU) during a low power state. The disclosed systems and methods may be implemented to control operation of a PSU relay included within the PSU, while the information handling system is operating in a low power state, e.g., such as the modern standby (S0ix) state. The disclosed systems and methods may also be implemented to provide intelligent PSU relay control that may be utilized to control operation of the PSU relay when the information handling system is entering, operating within, and exiting the modern standby (S0ix) state. This intelligent PSU relay control may include at least two operating modes: a modern standby mode and a normal mode of operation, and may be implemented to ensure that the PSU relay remains off during modern standby and returns to normal relay operation upon exiting modern standby.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for managing communication connections in a virtualization environment includes a plurality of host machines implementing a virtualization environment, wherein each of the host machines includes a hypervisor, at least one user virtual machine (user VM), and a distributed file server that includes file server virtual machines (FSVMs) and associated local storage devices. Each FSVM and associated local storage device are local to a corresponding one of the host machines, and the FSVMs conduct I/O transactions with their associated local storage devices based on I/O requests received from the user VMs. Each of the user VMs on each host machine sends each of its representative I/O requests to an FSVM that is selected by one or more of the FSVMs for each I/O request based on a lookup table that maps a storage item referenced by the I/O request to the selected one of the FSVMs.

Abstract: In general, embodiments relate to a method for adjusting a datacenter when new hardware is added. The method comprises retrieving telemetry form the datacenter and using it to detect one or more new hardware elements that have been added to the datacenter. The one or more new hardware elements are identified, and it is determined that a hardware profile template form the one or more new hardware elements does not exist in a shared storage. A component tree for the identified one or more hardware elements is created and using this component tree a hardware profile template is created for each of the identified one or more hardware elements. This profile template is saved in the shared storage and is applied to configure the datacenter to use the one or more new hardware elements.

Abstract: A method of programming a fabric-coupled FPGA device includes instructing a communication fabric to establish a first logical partition segregating a first set of communication switch ports within the communication fabric that includes the management processor and a target device comprising a memory device configured to program a field-programmable gate array (FPGA). The method includes directing configuration data configured to program the FPGA to the target device over the first logical partition. The method includes instructing the communication fabric to remove the first logical partition in the communication fabric, wherein the configuration data remains stored at the target device after removal of the first logical partition. The method includes instructing the communication fabric to establish a second logical partition segregating a second set of communication switch ports within the communication fabric that includes a selected device and the target device that stores the configuration data.
