    Abstract: In some embodiments, a counting machine may include a counting area configured to count a plurality of items. The counting area may include a fixed pressure plate, a movable pressure plate, and one or more sensors configured to measure the distance between the fixed pressure plate and the movable pressure plate, and a processor configured to determine the number of items in the counting area by comparing a sampled thickness value to the thickness of the items located between the fixed pressure plate and the movable pressure plate.

    Abstract: Some embodiments disclose a device having two or more sensors and/or a processor that detects a differential between sensor readings and/or determines a flipping of the device based thereon. For example, the sensors may include light sensors. Optionally the device includes an output interface, for example an LCD (liquid crystal display). For example, the display reports flipping statistics. Optionally, the device includes a flat disk and/or is flipped like a coin. Some embodiments disclose a system for communication between a mobile device and a second device. Optionally, the second device includes an imager and/or a light source. Optionally, the mobile device includes an indicator and/or a display. Optionally the second device images the mobile device and/or reads a message on the display and/or determines an orientation of the indicator and/or sends messages to the mobile device via a coded series of flashes.

    Abstract: An arrangement of counting passengers in an elevator using two separate counting mechanisms is disclosed. The elevator car typically has a curtain of light arranged to the door and a load weighing device arranged to measure the weight of the elevator car. From the information recorded by the curtain of light and the load weighing device, it is possible to count the number of passengers. The reliability of the counting results can be improved by processing the counting results for forming a combined counting result that provides a more reliable counting result when the independent counts deviate from each other.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for a hybrid undo/redo for text editing, where non-linear undo and redo operations are performed across dynamic regions in a document and linear undo and redo operations are performed within the dynamic regions in the document. In an example, the hybrid undo/redo may be achieved by maintaining respective region offset values for the dynamic regions created in a document by the edits made to the document. In operation, the respective region offset values associated with the dynamic regions can be used to negate or otherwise counteract the effect of edits made in the dynamic regions.

    Abstract: A charged particle counting device, a manufacturing method thereof, and a charged particle counting system are provided. The charged particle counting device includes: a bipolar transistor (10) and a magneto-electric induction coil (20), a gate (101) of the bipolar transistor is electrically connected to an end of the magneto-electric induction coil, and the other end of the magneto-electric induction coil is applied with a constant voltage, when a stream of positively charged particles passes through the magneto-electric induction coil and a first induced voltage generated by the magneto-electric induction coil is greater than a predetermined voltage threshold, a channel of the bipolar transistor is an N-type channel; and when a stream of negatively charged particles passes through the magneto-electric induction coil and a second induced voltage generated by the magneto-electric induction coil is less than the predetermined voltage threshold, the channel of the bipolar transistor is a P-type channel.
