    摘要: An apparatus and method for concealing errors in digital data. An interpolator estimates a value of a sample of digital data from other samples of the digital data. The interpolator has an input for inputting the digital data and an output for outputting the estimated value of the sample of the digital data. A holding unit has an input for selectively receiving the sample of the digital data only when the sample is error free, and an output for outputting the error free sample. The input of the holding unit may be in parallel with the input of the interpolator. A selector selects between outputting the estimated value of the sample of the received digital data from an output of the interpolator and outputting the error free sample of the received digital data from an output of a holding unit based on at least one error indicator.

    摘要: A technique for handling errors in a memory system. Specifically, a new dual mode ECC algorithm is provided to detect errors in X4 and X8 memory devices. Further, an XOR memory engine is provided to correct the errors detected in the dual mode ECC algorithm. Depending on the mode of operation of the dual mode ECC algorithm and the error type (single-bit or multi-bit), errors may be corrected using ECC techniques. When operating in a X8 mode, all errors, including single-bit errors are corrected by the XOR memory engine. If more than one single bit error is detected on a single transaction, one or more of the errors may be corrected using ECC techniques.

Frames of data may be acquired quickly by a receiver by having a string of symbols representing the phase offset between successive header symbols in the header training sequence in order to determine the carrier offset. Phase lock to a signal may achieved after determining carrier offset in receivers by correlating successive symbols in successive headers. The safety address, however, is not transmitted with the message, but instead only the data of the message and an error detecting code based on a combination of the data and the safety address is sent. At a receiving node, an expected safety address is concatenated to the data of the message and the transmitted error correcting code compared against this combination to confirm proper addressing of the message. Network capacity is thus improved.
