    Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic device display circuitry and methods of operating the display. The display circuitry includes gate-in-panel (GIP) drivers for each pixel row of a pixel array, and mode selection circuitry coupled between two of the GIP drivers. The mode selection circuitry receives a select signal to switch the display between a full-screen mode of operation and a split-screen mode of operation. The mode selection circuitry allows the pixel rows to be operated in a butterfly driving mode that facilitates reduction of optical artifacts when displaying augmented-reality or virtual-reality content with a multi-function display such as a display of a smartphone or a tablet.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel comprising a first substrate, a second substrate provided on the first substrate, and side electrodes provided on a side surface of the first substrate and a side surface of the second substrate aligned to the side surface of the first substrate; a driver unit comprising a circuit board, driving electrodes provided on the circuit board to face the side electrodes, and driving signal lines provided on the circuit board, the driving signal lines are connected to the driving electrodes, respectively; and an adhesive member provided between the side electrodes and the circuit board, the adhesive member comprising: a first adhesive portion configured to adhere and electrically connect a first driving electrode of the driving electrodes to a first side electrode of the side electrodes; and a second adhesive portion configured to adhere the circuit board to the first side electrode.

    Abstract: An input device includes a touch sensor, a pressure detection unit configured to detect pressure on the touch sensor, and a control unit that performs control to execute predetermined processing when, in a state such that the touch sensor detects contact inside a predetermined region, data based on pressure detected by the pressure detection unit satisfies a predetermined standard, and performs control not to execute the predetermined processing when, in a state such that the data based on pressure detected by the pressure detection unit satisfies a predetermined standard, the touch sensor detects contact that transitions from outside the predetermined region to inside the predetermined region.

The light-permeable display screen has a first surface and a second surface facing away from the first surface. The second surface includes a display area and a black matrix area surrounding the display area. The black matrix area includes a first window region. The optical sensor is disposed opposite to the second surface of the light-permeable display screen, and includes an emitter and a receiver. The emitter is configured to emit an infrared light through the first window region and the receiver is configured to receive the infrared light through the light-permeable display screen.
