The housing includes a first wall having the spindle motor attached thereto, and a second wall protruding from the first wall to surround the inner space. The first board is attached to an outer surface of the second wall. The first connector is attached to the first board and is connected to an external device. Each of the magnetic disks has a diameter of 80 mm or more and 100 mm or less. The housing has a maximum dimension of 26.2 mm or more in the axial direction.

The magnet is opposed to the stator in the radial direction. The rotor flange portion extends in a radially outer direction from one axial end portion of the rotor tube portion. The rotor tube portion includes a yoke tube portion and a hub tube portion. The yoke tube portion is located on a radially inside surface of the hub tube portion.

    摘要: A dual disk spindle motor hard disk drive includes a first portion having a first spindle motor and a first disk media stack mounted thereon and housed in a first enclosure, and a second portion having a coaxial second spindle motor and a second disk media stack mounted thereon and housed in a second enclosure, where the second portion further includes both the first actuator and head sliders corresponding to the first disk stack as well as the second actuator and head sliders corresponding to the second disk stack. The first and second portions are coupled together such that the open sides of the enclosures mate, referred to herein as a clamshell configuration, and each separate spindle motor is configured to operate independently of the other. With independent control of multiple spindle motors, various control functions may be utilized to address power consumption and temperature control.

    摘要: A method includes coupling an electric motor in a hard disk drive to a set of driver circuits. Each driver circuit includes a high-side switch and a low-side switch. The high-side switch has a high-side current flow path between a supply node coupled to a supply voltage and a switching node coupled to a winding of the electric motor. The low-side switch has a low-side current flow path between the switching node and ground. Respective conduction currents are generated through the low-side current flow paths, in response to a command to reduce the motor speed by coupling a drive voltage to the control terminals of the low-side switches. An intensity of at least one of the respective conduction currents is sensed. In response to the sensed current intensity exceeding a current intensity threshold, the control terminals of the low-side switches are coupled to respective ones of the switching nodes.
