    摘要: A data storage device includes at least one head supported by an actuator arm. The at least one head interacts with the at least one data storage disc when positioned over the at least one data storage disc. The data storage device further includes a split ramp for supporting the at least one head when the at least one head is moved away from the at least one data storage disc. The split ramp has a first ramp portion adjacent to a first outer diameter (OD) of the at least one data storage disc and a second ramp portion adjacent to the first ramp portion, such that the first ramp portion is between the second ramp portion and the first OD. At least one of the first ramp portion or the second ramp portion is independently moveable.

    摘要: A recording head for use in magnetic storage devices is disclosed. The recording head includes a transducer that is bi-directionally movable with respect to a surface of the magnetic storage medium, thereby enabling improved positioning of the transducer during recording head read and write operations. Various structures are disclosed to bi-directionally actuate the recording head transducer. In one embodiment, an interleaver assembly having a plurality of flexure assemblies employs a motor including magnetic portions for selective, bi-directional actuation. In another embodiment, electrostatic charges are employed in the flexure assemblies for selective actuation. In yet another embodiment, piezoelectric elements are included to provide for selective actuation.

    摘要: Various embodiments concern a DSA suspension of a disk drive. The DSA suspension comprises a support configured to attach to the disk drive, the support comprising a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a linkage portion therebetween. The DSA head suspension system further comprises at least one motor mounted on the support, each motor positioned between the proximal portion and the distal portion. The DSA suspension further comprises a damper attached to some or all of the proximal portion, the motor(s), the distal portion, and the linkage portion. The damper can be a single layer or multilayered. The damper can comprise viscoelastic material. The damper can be adhesive. The damper may only be attached to the support and the motors and not to other components of the DSA suspension.

    摘要: Various embodiments concern a suspension having a DSA structure on a gimbaled flexure. The suspension comprises a loadbeam and flexure attached thereto. The flexure comprises a pair of spring arms, a tongue located between the spring arms and structurally supported by the pair of spring arms, and a pair of struts. The struts are positioned respectively between the pair of spring arms and the tongue. The longitudinal axes of the struts are offset with respect to each other. The suspension further comprises a slider and a motor mounted on the flexure. The motor has a longitudinal axis that is parallel with the axes of the struts and perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the loadbeam. Electrical activation of the motor bends the pair of struts to move the slider.

    摘要: An electrical interconnect from a suspension electrical circuit to a PZT microactuator motor includes copper plated onto a first side of a stainless steel support layer and gold plated onto a second and opposite side of the stainless steel support layer, with the gold plated stainless steel surface bonded to the PZT motor surface by conductive epoxy. The stainless steel may have a via etched into it to the copper surface before the gold plating step which then plates both the stainless steel and the copper with gold, so that the conductive epoxy is in physical and electrical contact with both the gold plated stainless steel and thus in electrical contact with the copper, and also in direct physical and electrical contact with the gold plated copper.

    摘要: An integrated load-unload ramp structure with a downstream spoiler and a slit-shroud for a hard-disk drive (HDD). The integrated load-unload (L/UL) ramp structure includes a L/UL ramp-structure portion, at least one downstream spoiler integrally attached to the L/UL ramp-structure portion, and a slit-shroud including at least one wing, the slit-shroud integrally attached to the L/UL ramp-structure portion. The L/UL ramp-structure portion is configured both for loading, and for unloading, at least one head-slider from at least one magnetic-recording disk. The downstream spoiler is configured for operation in an airflow downstream from the head-slider. In addition, the slit-shroud is configured to suppress axial airflow components in close proximity to an outside-diameter (OD) edge of the magnetic-recording disk. A HDD including the integrated L/UL ramp structure and a method for assembling a HDD with an integrated L/UL ramp structure are also provided.
