摘要: A storage medium including a servo layer, a data recording layer, a heat sink layer, and a diamond-like carbon layer with a lubricant covering. The servo layer is configured to store servo information on the storage medium. The servo information is used to position a read/write head over the storage medium during a read/write operation performed by the read/write head on the storage medium. The data recording layer is configured to store data on the storage medium during the read/write operation performed by the read/write head on the storage medium. The heat sink layer is disposed between the servo layer and the data recording layer. The diamond-like carbon layer with the lubricant covering is disposed above the data recording layer.

摘要: A ground member of a personal electronic device includes a base and a first deflection arm formed of a portion of the base. The first deflection arm exposes a cutout portion of the base and is bent along a first bend line. The cutout portion is dimensioned to engage with a complementary dimensioned support member and the first deflection arm is configured to deflect and engage with the support member in response to insertion of the support member in the cutout portion. The ground member further includes a second deflection arm extending from the base and bent along a second bend line.

摘要: An optical information recording medium (1) includes on a substrate (50), a ROM layer (20), a RE layer (40), an intermediate layer (30) separating the ROM layer (20) and the RE layer (40), and a light transmitting layer (10) provided farthest from the substrate (50). The RE layer (40) is an information recording layer provided most farthest from the light transmitting layer (10), and is a recording layer of BCA recorded in a format easily determinable as compared to an information recording format used in the ROM layer (20), and antifouling property of a surface of the light transmitting layer (10) is set based on the RE layer (40). This makes it easy for the recording and reproducing apparatus to confirm a disc type, allows for sharing one recording and reproducing apparatus with other types of optical discs, and simplifies the disc production. Furthermore, an optical information recording medium is accomplished, in which outdated data on the ROM layer is replaced by recording, on the RE layer, updated data obtained while Internet connection can be established.

摘要: A rotation-activated electronic component, preferably a RFID tag mounted on or incorporated in a support that is rotated when read, e.g. a CD or DVD. The RFID tag comprises an antenna, a rotational switch and a component, advantageously a processor. The antenna is adapted to transform received RFID signals to electric energy that powers the component. In a preferred embodiment, the rotational switch is adapted to cut the circuit unless the support does not rotate at or above a certain rotational speed. Supports equipped with the RFID tag of the invention will thus respond only if they rotate sufficiently. This can avoid collisions in case more than one such RFID tag is within communication range of an antenna of a reader. In a preferred embodiment, the information returned by the component is needed for full use of the content on the support.

摘要: A disc has an outer section on which digital media can be recorded and a core in its center in which a flash memory is embedded with the core having a central hole and electrical contacts to the flash memory. A disc drive has a drive spindle that is to extend into the disc core central hole with one of the spindle or spindle hub having electrical contacts to engage with the core electrical contacts so that data can be written into and/or read from the core flash memory by electronic components of the drive.

摘要: A corner clamping apparatus capable of adjustably clamping two joined, mitered corner pieces to form a 90-degree corner with a single clamp. The clamping apparatus includes three rigid L-shaped supports, adjustably mounted relative to one another to accommodate differently sized corner pieces and/or variations in the corner pieces or their mitered edges. Four adjustable clamping feet retained in the rigid L serve to adjust the corner pieces to produce an exact miter joint or seam, and to hold the adjusted corner pieces until they can be more permanently joined.

摘要: An optical information medium measurement method, for measuring a degree of modulation in an optical information medium of a multilayered structure having a plurality of information layers, includes a first step of measuring a modulation degree of each layer of the optical information medium, and a second step of obtaining a thickness between layers of the optical information medium. Further, the method includes a third step of obtaining a reflectance of each layer of the optical information medium, and a fourth step of converting the modulation degree of each layer, as measured in the first step, into a modulation degree at a reference optical system differing from the measurement optical system, based on a value indicative of the thickness between layers, the thickness being obtained in the second step, and a value indicative of the reflectance of each layer, as obtained in the third step.

摘要: An information storage medium and a recording/reproducing apparatus and method are provided with the ability to extend at least one middle area of an information storage medium comprising two or more recording layers so as to ensure optimal data recording/reproduction. The information storage medium comprises a plurality of recording layers, each including a user data area for recording user data and at least one middle area used by a recording/reproducing apparatus that records/reproduces data on the information storage medium to move among two recording layers, wherein the at least one middle area is extended when the information storage medium is finalized. As a result, when an information storage medium that contains an OPC area for obtaining optimum recording conditions (such as recording power) in an outer circumference thereof is finalized, and if a middle area of the disk is not large enough, the middle area can flexibly be extended.
