    摘要: A thin-film magnetic head having improved playback properties in which the gap-bounding core parts overlap each other laterally while enclosing a layer having a gap and in which a first core part has the shape of a closed loop and is bridged in the center by a second core part. The parts of the first core part on either side of the bridge are provided with identical coils, while the first core part at the area of the overlap is divided centrally by an extra gap. Upon playing back, the difference signals of the coils then provides an indication as regards the position relative to the track.

    摘要: The invention concerns an integrated magnetic head adapted to cooperate with a track of a very narrow width, f.i. of about twenty microns, of a recording medium which moves perpendicularly to said width in close proximity to the frontal gap face of the head. The frontal width of the pole-piece layers of the head is reduced after said layers have been formed with a larger width adapted to a normal electromagnetic efficiency of the head in the parts of the said pole-pieces which encase the front branch of its flat conductor winding coil. The reduction is obtained by removal of the lateral parts of the pole-pieces over a predetermined depth with respect to the frontal face. Any registering part of an intervening dielectric layer between the pole-piece layers for defining the magnetic gap of the head is simultaneously removed. It is important that the removal be made by an attack such as a ionic erosion process perpendicularly oriented to the frontal plane of the head. The depth of removal may be of the order of 5 to 6 microns when the reduced width must be about twenty microns and when, further, the ratio of the overall thickness of the pole-piece layers and intervening layer at the frontal face of the gap to the said reduced width is higher than two.

    摘要: A magnetic read-record head is built on a transducer frame and a return core frame. The transducer frame is made by machining an assembly of two concentric cylindrical members to produce a frame with a central locator bar. Each transducer has a magnetic core with a notch in it and a coil wound around a portion of the core. The core notch fits over the locator bar to align all the transducers in the transducer frame. The return core frame receives magnetic cores in the form of U-shaped clips. After the clips are fastened to the return core frame, the curved portion of the U is removed leaving two rows of return cores. Then the return frame, with the cores, is attached to two transducer frames full of transducers to make a completed multichannel readrecord head.

    摘要: Given that there is a limit to the extent to which a record head may be excited before its pole tips saturate (gap fuzziness) while overwriting a second set of information signals atop a first set of information signals recorded in a high coercivity recording medium, the present invention concerns the discovery that if the record gap is dimensioned to equal approximately the flux change length that corresponds with a 2 f signal (FCL.sub.2) recorded atop a 1 f signal, i.e. if the record gap is somewhere between about 0.7 and 1.5 times the flux change length associated with the 2 f signal, erasure of the 1 f signal (as well as other signals) will be most effective.

    摘要: A thin-film magnetic head having a magnetic substrate made from ferrite, iron-aluminum-silicon alloy or like material, and an upper magnetic layer formed on the magnetic substrate with a lower magnetic layer and a conductive layer interposed therebetween. A portion of the upper magnetic layer is jointed to the magnetic substrate while another portion of the upper magnetic layer is jointed to the lower magnetic layer through a non-magnetic layer of SiO.sub.2 or like material constituting a magnetic gap. The lower magnetic layer, magnetic substrate, upper magnetic layer and the non-magnetic layer in combination form a closed magnetic circuit. A groove is defined between the lower magnetic layer and the magnetic substrate, and formed in the side surface of the magnetic substrate adapted to face a magnetic recording medium. The recess is filled with a non-magnetic material such as glass. Accordingly, it is possible to realize a definite pole piece length to permit an improvement in short-wavelength reproduction characteristics.

    摘要: Transducer intended for read/write functions on a magnetic data carrier wherein the data is contained within a plurality of tracks. The transducer includes a magnetic circuit formed by two pole pieces separated by a gap parallel to the carrier, having its larger dimensions perpendicular to the direction of travel of the data of a track and a winding coupled magnetically to this circuit.The larger dimension of the gap varies depending on the nature of the function performed by the transducer. At least one thin layer of magnetic material is deposited across the pole pieces at each outer edge thereof and spaced from each other. The magnetic layers may be deposited in recesses formed in the pole pieces. The pole pieces may be constricted and include thin magnetic layers deposited on the lateral surfaces to channel magnetic flux lines.

    摘要: A number of blocks made of a high magnetic permeability material are arranged in parallel with a very fine pitch on a non-magnetic substrate. A number of pairs of electrodes are provided to interpose the blocks therebetween. The pairs of electrodes are electrically connected with each other. A magnetic recording layer is provided adjacent to the blocks so that a part thereof is magnetized when the block adjacent thereto is excited. A pair of metal styluses or the like are put into contact with the electrodes and an electric current modulated with information is caused to flow through the styluses to excite the block interposed therebetween and magnetize the magnetic recording layer adjacent thereto when recording information. When reproducing the recorded information, a pair of metal styluses are put into contact with the opposite ends of the block and an electric current is caused flow through the block. The recorded information is read in the form of variation in electric current flowing therethrough or voltage thereacross obtained as the styluses are moved with respect to the recording medium along the direction in which the blocks are arranged.
