    摘要: An adjustable inductor including a core defining a plurality of gaps, a material positioned in the gaps, at least one winding wound on the core, a force-applying structure, and a film substantially covering the adjustable inductor. The force-applying structure is operable to apply a force to the core to adjust the gaps and thereby an inductance of the adjustable inductor. The film is configured to prevent movement of force-applying structure when below a predetermined temperature threshold, and allow movement of the force-applying structure when above the predetermined threshold.

    摘要: A rotary variable differential transformer for measuring angular displacement and method of manufacturing the same are provided herein. The rotary variable differential transformer includes a stator configured to house a primary coil configured to receive an alternating current, a first secondary coil electromagnetically coupled to the primary coil, and a second secondary coil electromagnetically coupled to the primary coil. The rotary variable differential transformer also includes a rotor positioned concentrically within the stator. The rotor is configured to receive a shaft and rotate with the shaft while the stator remains stationary. The primary coil is positioned at a first radial position within the stator spaced between about 90 to 150 degrees from each of the first secondary coil and the second secondary coil.

    摘要: An example actuator assembly includes an actuator configured to move a rod. A variable differential transformer (VDT) is situated adjacent to the actuator. The VDT includes a core coupled to the rod such that movement of the rod causes a corresponding movement of the core. A plurality of windings surround the core for measuring displacement of the core. A shield surrounds the plurality of windings and shields the plurality of windings from a magnetic field of the actuator. The shield having a maximum permeability of 50,000-500,000. A LVDT configuration method is also disclosed.

    摘要: A tunable reactance device and methods of manufacturing and using the same are disclosed. The tunable reactance device includes a substrate, a microelectromechanical (MEM) structure supported on the substrate and comprising a conductive material, and a driver configured to move the MEM structure with respect to the substrate upon application of an electrostatic force to the driver. A gap between the MEM structure and the substrate is maintained when the driver moves the MEM structure. The tunable reactance device has (i) a first reactance and a first electromagnetic field topology when the electrostatic force is applied to the driver and (ii) a different reactance and a different electromagnetic field topology when a different electrostatic force is applied to the driver.

    摘要: The LC combined transformer is a combination of capacitors, inductors and an electrically-isolated mutual inductor, i.e. conventional transformer; which in principle is a unity-coupled mutual capacitor or a cascade connection of an ideal transformer and unity-coupled mutual capacitor(s). To improve the imperfections of widely-used transformers, by employing the simplest passive-circuit design to attain a perfectly-functional match between mutual capacitors and the mutual inductor, this invention achieves optimal features of current or/and voltage transformation, and introduces a new function of waveform conversion from square to quasi-sine. The ideal current transformer herein is suitable for sinusoidal current measurements, the ideal voltage transformer herein suitable for sinusoidal voltage measurements, and they also could be upgraded to ideal transformers for both current and voltage transformations. This transformer can be designed as power transferable as well as waveform convertible, applicable in power systems or power electronics. Herein also states the design approach of integrated inductor and mutual inductor, and the use of push-pull inductor, materials being fully utilized and sizes decreased.

    摘要: An inductive coupler assembly for use in a downhole environment and related methods are described. An example indicative coupler assembly includes a first inductive coupler having first and second magnetically coupled coils and a second inductive coupler having third and fourth magnetically coupled coils. The first and third coils are coupled to a first pair of signal lines and the second and fourth coils are coupled to a second pair of signal lines. The first inductive coupler is to magnetically convey a differential communications signal between the first and second pairs of signal lines, and the second inductive coupler is to magnetically convey a common mode power signal between the first and second pairs of signal lines.

The inner casing comprises an inner trough formed into an exterior surface with an inner electrical conductor disposed within the inner trough. The outer casing is configured to encircle the inner casing such that the inner electrical conductor is in magnetic communication with the outer electrical conductor. A helical geometry is formed in at least one of the inner or outer troughs. The inner and outer casings are configured to move relative to each other.
