    Abstract: A vacuum circuit breaker includes: a plurality of vacuum valves each of which includes: a cylindrical vacuum container; a fixed electrode fixed inside the vacuum container; a movable conductor that protrudes from the inside of the vacuum container to the outside of the vacuum container and is movable in a direction of a center axis of the vacuum container; and a movable electrode that moves together with the movable conductor inside the vacuum container to be capable of being separated from the fixed electrode and coming into contact with the fixed electrode, the plurality of vacuum valves being connected in series with each other; and a cylindrical tank that accommodates the plurality of vacuum valves. The plurality of vacuum valves include at least two vacuum valves adjacent to each other in a direction intersecting a center axis of the tank.

    Abstract: An on-load tap-changer of a tap-changing transformer has a switch. The switch has: a take-off contact; a primary fixed contact; and a contact unit. The contact unit has a moving contact, a first arcing contact and a second arcing contact. These contacts are pivotable about a pivot axis during a switchover process such that the contacts assume a first position, in which they make contact with the take-off contact and the primary fixed contact, and a second position, in which they are separated from the take-off contact and the primary fixed contact. The second arcing contact assumes the first position before the first arcing contact when switching over from the second position to the first position and leaves the first position after the first arcing contact when switching over from the first position to the second position.

    Abstract: A medium voltage switching pole includes: a fixed contact of a vacuum interrupter; a movable contact of the vacuum interrupter; a piston; at least one electrical contact; a first terminal; and a second terminal. The fixed contact is fixedly connected to the first terminal. The movable contact is fixedly connected to the piston. The piston moves within the second terminal along an axis. The at least one electrical contact makes an electrical connection between the piston and the second terminal. An outer surface of the piston and an inner surface of the second terminal are arranged such that: when in an open configuration the fixed contact and movable contact are separated, at least one first radial line perpendicular to the axis extends through locations of the at least one electrical contact, and a first distance along the at least one first radial line extends from the outer surface.

    Abstract: A vacuum circuit breaker 10 comprising a vacuum interrupter 12 coupled between upper 18 and lower 20 terminals and being operable to make or break an electrical connection between the upper and lower terminals. The circuit breaker has a body 22 formed from electrically insulating material, the vacuum interrupter being located in an internal chamber of the body. The lower terminal 20 comprises a hollow body 26 that forms part of the internal chamber and which is shaped and dimensioned to allow the vacuum interrupter 12 to pass through it. An electrical connector device 50 has a movable part 52 that is connected to the movable contact and an annular fixed part 54 that is connected to the lower terminal 20. The movable part 52 is connected to the first part 54 by flexible connectors 56, and has a socket (58) for engaging an electrical connector 60 of the vacuum interrupter 12. A pulling rod 16 is coupled to the movable contact via the electrical connector 60.

    Abstract: Recloser apparatuses, methods and systems are disclosed. In one embodiment a recloser includes a vacuum interrupter coupled with first and second electrical terminals. A driving structure is coupled with the vacuum interrupter. An electromagnetic actuator is coupled with the driving structure and is moveable to a first position to open the vacuum interrupter and to a second position to close the vacuum interrupter. A mechanical opening/closing mechanism includes a handle and a mechanical connection driving structure. The handle is moveable to move the vacuum interrupter to the first position and the second position. A control circuit is provided in communication with the electromagnetic actuator and is operable to actuate the electromagnetic actuator to move the vacuum interrupter between the first position and the second position.

    Abstract: A switching apparatus tor conducting and interrupting electrical currents includes: a first mechanical contact arrangement: a semiconductor switch which is connected in parallel to the first mechanical contact arrangement; a second mechanical contact arrangement connected in series to the first mechanical contact arrangement; an auxiliary coil electrically isolated from a circuit of a switching drive used to move contacts of the first and second mechanical contact arrangements, and which is electromagnetically coupled to a coil of the switching drive such that a voltage is generated therein when a voltage supply of the switching drive is switched off; and a switching electronics for switching the semiconductor switch on and off, and which is supplied with the voltage generated in the auxiliary coil when the voltage supply of the switching drive is switched off. The switching electronics switches the semiconductor switch on and off multiple times according to a prespecified sequence.
