    摘要: In the excimer lamp according to the present invention, a flat discharge vessel having a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape and comprising a pair of planar parts and a pair of side-surface parts has a pair of external electrodes disposed on the respective outer surfaces of the planar parts. The end parts of the external electrodes are provided with an auxiliary electrode extending to a region that is made smaller than the distance between the planar parts. A lead that supplies electricity to the external electrode is connected to the auxiliary electrode in the region that is made smaller than the distance between the planar parts.

The layer of counter-electrode (2) is a part of the layer system of the lighting element (1), where the dielectric layer (5) has the function of a spacer and separates the base electrode (7) from the counter-electrode (2).

    摘要: A cold-cathode fluorescent lamp, comprising a sealed lighting enclosure provided with a phosphor coating on at least part of an inner surface thereof the lighting enclosure. An electrode is provided juxtaposed a region of the inner surface of the lighting tube, the electrode energisable from an external source of energy via an electric lead supporting the electrode, and positioned adjacent the main ionisation region within the lighting enclosure. The phosphor is to be excited by radiation to be generated inside the lighting tube by electric discharge from the electrode to provide visible radiation. At least part of the surface(s) of that portion of the electrode proximal most to the ionisation region are overlaid by a cap made from a high heat resistive and non conductive material.

    摘要: A light source device in which the radiated light from the dielectric barrier discharge lamp can always be stabilized even if the discharge vessel of the dielectric barrier discharge lamp is large or the load on the tube wall within the discharge vessel is small. This is achieved according to the invention by the provision of a light source device having a discharge lamp which has a generally cylindrical, coaxial double-tube arrangement of an outer tube and an inner tube, in which there is an outer electrode on the outer tube, in which there is an inner electrode on the inner tube, and in which a discharge space between the inner and outer tubes is filled with a discharge gas for formation of excimer molecules by a dielectric barrier discharge, and of a power source for operating this discharge lamp in accordance with the relationship: Vs/Vp.ltoreq.0.5 where Vs is the starting voltage and Vp is the voltage applied to the discharge lamp during steady-state luminous operation.

    摘要: A matrix addressable flat panel display includes a flat cathode operable for emitting electrons to an anode when an electric field is produced across the surface of the flat cathode by two electrodes placed on each side of the flat cathode. The flat cathode may consist of a cermet or amorphic diamond or some other combination of a conducting material and an insulating material such as a low effective work function material. The electric field produced causes electrons to hop on the surface of the cathode at the conducting-insulating interfaces. An electric field produced between the anode and the cathode causes these electrons to bombard a phosphor layer on the anode.
