Abstract: Systems and methods include an electrical switch that establishes a first electrical conducting path between terminals of an electrical measurement apparatus through one or more electrical leads and an electrically-conductive sample in a first state, and a second electrical conducting path between the terminals through the one or more electrical leads while bypassing the sample in a second state. A voltage VS+L is measured across all of the sample and the one or more electrical leads in the first state, while a voltage VL is measured across the one or more electrical leads while bypassing the sample in the second state. Calculations according to the equation VS=VS+L−VL are performed to determine a precision DC voltage measurement of a voltage across the sample VS in the absence of Seebeck voltage offsets contributed by the one or more electrical leads.

Abstract: A ventilation module can be used with a ventilation seat for a vehicle. A thermoelectric air-conditioning part has a thermoelectric unit performing heat absorption and heat generation by using a Peltier effect when electric power is applied, a cooling unit provided at a first side of the thermoelectric unit, and a heat dissipation unit provided at a second side of the thermoelectric unit. The module is configured so that air that is supplied from a blower is cooled by the thermoelectric air-conditioning part, passes through a cooling fin of the cooling unit, and is discharged to an interior of the vehicle through a seat cushion. The module is configured so that air that is supplied from the blower is heated by the thermoelectric air-conditioning part, passes through a heat dissipating fin of the heat dissipation unit, and is discharged through the heat dissipation path.

Abstract: Described herein are devices incorporating Casimir cavities, which modify the quantum vacuum mode distribution within the cavities. The Casimir cavities can create energy differences within layers or device to drive energy from or to a portion of a layer disposed adjacent to or contiguous with the Casimir cavity by modifying the quantum vacuum mode distribution incident on one portion of the layer to be different from the quantum vacuum mode distribution incident on another portion of the layer. Additionally, Casimir cavities in which the cavity layer comprises a conductor that can be used to carry a flow of electrical power induced by the presence of the Casimir cavity.

Abstract: A method is provided for growing a fiber structure, where the method includes: obtaining a substrate, growing an array of pedestal fibers on the substrate, growing fibers on the pedestal fibers, and depositing a coating surrounding each of the fibers. In another aspect, a method of fabricating a fiber structure includes obtaining a substrate and growing a plurality of fibers on the substrate according to 1½D printing. In another aspect, a multilayer functional fiber is provided produced by, for instance, the above-noted methods.
