摘要: Battery electrode compositions are provided for use in aqueous electrolytes and may comprise, for example, a current collector, active particles, and a conformal, metal-ion permeable coating. The active particles may be electrically connected to the current collector, and provided to store and release metal ions of an active material during battery operation. The conformal, metal-ion permeable coating may at least partially encase the surface of the connected active particles, whereby the conformal, metal-ion permeable coating impedes (i) direct electrical contact of an aqueous electrolyte with the active particles and (ii) aqueous electrolyte decomposition during battery operation. Such electrode compositions and corresponding aqueous batteries may facilitate the incorporation of advanced material synthesis and electrode fabrication technologies, and enable fabrication of high voltage and high capacity aqueous batteries at a cost lower than that of conventional metal-ion battery technology.

摘要: At least one of the anode and cathode of a lithium-ion processing electrochemical cell are prepared with a layer of mixed particles of both active lithium battery electrode materials and lithium ion adsorbing capacitor materials, or with co-extensive, contiguous layers of battery electrode particles in one layer and capacitor particles in the adjoining layer. The proportions of active battery electrode particles and active capacitor particles in one or both of the electrodes are predetermined to provide specified energy density (Wh/kg) and power density (W/kg) properties of the cell for its intended application.

摘要: Hybrid electrochemical cells and modules include an anode two-sided current collector a coated with host material in anode region(s) and a cathode two-sided current collector coated with active material in cathode region(s), and one or more of the anode current collector and the cathode current collector is coated with capacitor material in one or more distinct, non-overlapping capacitor regions. A hybrid anode and/or cathode can include gaps between capacitor regions and anode regions and cathode regions. The capacitor material applied to an electrode is different from the host or active material thereof. Active material includes lithium metal oxides and lithium metal phosphates such as LiFePO4, Li(NixMnyCoz)O2, and/or LiMn2O4; host material includes graphite, silicon, silicon-Li/Sn/Cu alloys, Si/Co/Fe/TiSn oxides, and low-surface area carbon; and capacitor material includes activated carbon, metal oxides, and metal sulfides.

摘要: Provided is a metal-air battery including a cathode having a space which may be filled with a metal oxide formed during a discharge of the metal-air battery and thus having improved energy density and lifespan. The cathode for the metal-air battery includes a plurality of cathode materials, a plurality of electrolyte films disposed on surfaces of the plurality of cathode materials, and a plurality of spaces which are not occupied by the plurality of cathode materials and the plurality of electrolyte films. A volume of the plurality of spaces may be greater than or equal to a maximum space of a metal oxide formed during a discharge of the metal-air battery.

摘要: Provided is an internal hybrid electrochemical cell comprising: (A) a pseudocapacitance cathode comprising a cathode active material that contains both graphene sheets and a porphyrin complex, wherein said porphyrin complex is bonded to or supported by primary surfaces of said graphene sheets to form a redox pair for pseudocapacitance; (B) a battery-like anode comprising lithium metal, lithium metal alloy, or a prelithiated anode active material (e.g. prelithiated Si, SiO, Sn, SnO2, etc.), and (C) a lithium-containing electrolyte in physical contact with the anode and the cathode; wherein the cathode active material has a specific surface area no less than 100 m2/g which is in direct physical contact with the electrolyte.

摘要: An electrochemical energy storage device includes an anode having a first mixture which includes a first plurality of electrically conductive carbon-comprising particles having a first average porosity, and lithium metal materials. The weight ratio of the first plurality of carbon-comprising and lithium metal materials is from 30:1 to 3:1. A cathode includes a second mixture having a second plurality of electrically conductive carbon-comprising particles having a second average porosity greater than the first average porosity, and lithium-intercalating metal oxide particles. The weight ratio of the second plurality of carbon-comprising and lithium-intercalating metal oxide particles is from 1:20 to 5:1. The weight ratio between the lithium metal materials loaded in the anode and the second plurality of carbon-comprising particles in the cathode is from 0.1-10%. An electrolyte physically and ionically contacts the anode and the cathode, and fills the pore volume in the anode, cathode and a porous separator.

A mean particle diameter D50 of the aggregated particles is within a range of 0.2 μm to 30 μm, and a mean particle diameter D50 of the complex particles is within a range of 0.5 μm to 40 μm.

摘要: An energy distribution system. The energy distribution system has a housing with a rear terminal and a front terminal. An inlet unit receives air therethrough. The inlet unit then passes the air through a one-way valve into a reservoir where the air molecules undergo ionization. Once ionized, the gaseous air is converted into a plasma state. After being converted into the plasma state, electric energy is generated by a pair of magnets and stored in a capacitor.
