Abstract: An alkaline battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator. The negative electrode includes zinc alloy powder, gelling agent, surface active agent, and electrolyte. The zinc alloy powder includes zinc alloy particles. A proportion of the zinc alloy particles with respect to zinc alloy powder that passes through a mesh having an aperture width of 75 μm ranges from 9 mass % to 28 mass %. The zinc alloy powder has a bulk density ranging from 2.7 g/cm3 to 3.2 g/cm3. A content of the zinc alloy powder in the negative electrode ranges from 60 mass % to 64 mass %.

Abstract: In some implementations, a metal air battery includes an anode and a cathode opposite to the anode. The cathode may be formed as a textured carbon-based scaffold and include an opening into the metal air battery. The metal air battery may include a nano-fibrous membrane (NFM) containing a liquid electrolyte and a functionalized carbon structure may be disposed between the cathode and the NFM. The functionalized carbon structure may allow moisture and oxygen from ambient air to permeate through the NFM and diffuse throughout the textured scaffold of the cathode. A moisture barrier layer may be laminated over the cathode and positioned, by a user, in one of two states. When in a first state, the moisture barrier layer may seal the opening. When in a second state, the moisture barrier layer may allow the moisture and the oxygen to enter the textured scaffold.

Abstract: The Zinc air cell is circular and includes a chamber for the electrolyte flowing, a cathode, an anode, a container structure of the electrolyte chamber and a cathode current collector. A contact element electrically connects the cathode to the anode current collector of the adjacent cell to close the circuit. This Zinc-Air rechargeable flow battery cell includes at least one carbon porous air electrode (positive electrode) for the synthesis of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR)/oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Furthermore, it includes an alkaline gel polymeric membrane (GPM) with hydroxide ion conductivity or a composite polymer electrolyte (CPE), and at least one metal negative electrode including zinc or zinc alloy or an inert conductive electrode where zinc deposition occurs during battery discharging. An aqueous electrolyte solution is adapted to flow through a housing and containing a zinc-based nanoelectrofuel. The carbon porous air electrode is an oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalyst. There is casing in which said components are positioned, and an inlet and an outlet are located within and traverse said casing and are constructed to permit the exchange of the aqueous electrolyte in the cell and in the reservoir.
