摘要: A shoe for dispensing a molten metal such as lead into a mold cavity of a rotating drum to continuously cast a web of a plurality of serially connected grids or battery composite electrodes of a carbon fiber material with a cast metal conductor. The shoe may have at least one elongate orifice slot in a face confronting the drum, a molten metal supply passage communicating with the orifice slot and an excess molten metal return slot opening into the confronting face downstream of the supply slot relative generally to the direction of rotation of the drum.

摘要: A lead foil and a bipolar lead acid storage battery capable of suppressing a voltage drop in the battery due to peeling of the lead foil from a substrate are described. The lead foil is for a current collector in a bipolar lead acid storage battery. A back face of the lead foil opposed to a substrate of the bipolar lead acid storage battery has a contact length of between 150 μm and 1800 μm, inclusive, in a profile curve acquired, orthogonally to a rolling direction, by surface roughness measurement with a stylus, and with a scanning distance of 4 mm and a measurement interval of 0.5 μm, the contact length is a sum total of respective absolute values of differences in height between adjacent measurement points.

摘要: A bipolar storage battery includes a bipolar electrode including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a bipolar plate provided with the positive electrode on one surface and the negative electrode on another surface. The bipolar storage battery includes an adhesive provided between the one surface of the bipolar plate and the positive electrode to bond the positive electrode to the bipolar plate, and the adhesive is a liquid gasket. This configuration can provide a bipolar storage battery in which, even if corrosion by sulfuric acid contained in an electrolytic solution causes a growth in a positive electrode, the electrolytic solution is prevented from easily entering each part such as an interface between the positive electrode, an adhesive, and a communication hole, and battery performance is less likely to deteriorate.

摘要: The weight and size of a lead-acid battery is reduced and the energy density per mass by forming base members of components of the lead-acid battery is improved by using aluminum or aluminum alloy and forming multiple plating layers on a surface of each base member. In order to prevent formation of pinholes in the multiple plating layers, the surface of the base member 22 is subjected to flattening processing, a solder plating layer with a film thickness of 10 μm or more is formed, or many layers of group 4 metals with similar chemical properties are laminated. Moreover, in a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate, an active material layer 24 is formed on the outermost lead plating layer by an electrolytic formation treatment to improve the charging and discharging efficiencies of the lead-acid battery and to greatly reduce fall-off the active material layer 24.

摘要: Apparatus and techniques such as can include a sealed bipolar battery assembly are described herein. For example, the battery assembly can using two or more sealing techniques, such as to provide a liquid-tight assembly. A sealed current collector assembly can be provided, such as by fitting compressible plastic seals to one or both side of a current collector. An adhesive seal can be applied to an edge or perimeter of the current collector. A plastic seal assembly can be used to anchor the seals or to provide an additional layer of leakage protection should electrolyte seep under hydrophobic plastic seals. Current collector assemblies including stackable casing frames can be assembled to provide a rigid casing. These casing assemblies can be stacked on top of one another to form bipolar cells comprising the battery assembly.
