摘要: A battery grid is disclosed. The battery grid includes a pattern of grid wires. The pattern includes a grid wire having a first segment with a first corrosion resistance and a second segment with a second corrosion resistance which is less than the first corrosion resistance. The second segment corrodes at a rate which is faster than the corrosion rate of the first segment so as to dynamically release internal stress and control grid growth of the battery grid during its service life. A battery includes said grid and a method of forming said grid are also disclosed.

摘要: A battery paste application tooling assembly includes a hopper, a connector assembly, and a clamp assembly. The battery paste application tooling assembly can be equipped in a pasting machine. The hopper receives battery paste material. The hopper has an orifice plate with an orifice therein. The connector assembly is engageable with the orifice plate and disengageable therefrom. The clamp assembly is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the clamp assembly releasable secures the orifice plate to the hopper. In the second position, the clamp assembly permits removal of the orifice plate from the hopper.

摘要: An apparatus and process for melting and using scrap pieces of lead or lead alloy from making a web of connected grids for a lead acid battery by forming holes through a solid strip of lead or lead alloy. The scrap pieces may be compacted into briquettes which are submerged in a pool of liquid lead or lead alloy below the top surface of the pool and melt in the pool. Liquid lead from the pool may be cast into solid strips from which webs of grids are made.

摘要: A bipolar battery (1) comprising a stack of multiple bipolar plates (9) sandwiched between two monopolar plates (6, 8) is disclosed. The bipolar plates (9) each comprise a conductive polymer core (22) and an integrally formed non-conductive polymer surround (4), a layer of cathode material (16) on a first side of the bipolar plate (9), and a layer of anode material (28) on a second, opposite side of the bipolar plate (9). The integrally formed non-conductive polymer surround (4) extends from the conductive polymer core (22) further on one side than the other, such that on one side a first recess (19) is defined for accommodating electrolyte material of the battery (1). The layers of anode material (28) and cathode material (16) are contained within a casing formed at least in part by the integrally formed non-conductive polymer surrounds (4) of all of the bipolar plates (9).

In this application, a polymer protective film with high tensile strength, high puncture strength, high elongation, and high electrolyte holding capacity may be formed on the surface of the lithium-metal negative electrode in the negative electrode plate.

A laminar textile material is disclosed to this end, comprising glass fibers and fibers made of a thermoplastic, e.g. polyester.
