摘要: A redox flow battery includes a positive-side electrode tank that stores an electrolytic solution to be circulated to a positive electrode chamber in which a positive electrode is accommodated; and a negative-side electrode tank that stores an electrolytic solution to be circulated to a negative electrode chamber in which a negative electrode is accommodated. Each electrolytic solution contains an active material and a mediator, and the active material is solid in each electrolytic solution. An electrolyte concentration in each electrolytic solution is adjusted such that a potential difference between an equilibrium potential of the active material and an equilibrium potential of the mediator is equal to or less than a predetermined potential difference.

摘要: Described herein is a method of making a polymer electrolyte membrane, the method comprising: disposing a liquid composition on a substrate, wherein the liquid composition comprises an ionic fluorinated polymer, wherein the ionic fluorinated polymer comprises a plurality of side chains having a protogenic group in a salt form, and wherein the ionic fluorinated polymer has a T(a) of less than 200° C. Such polymer electrolyte membranes may be used in electrochemical cells, such as a flow cell battery.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a graphite bipolar plate for a fuel cell or flow battery. A pair of graphite monopolar plates is provided. The monopolar plates are bonded together along opposing contact faces of the monopolar plates. Bonding is carried out using a 1C epoxy resin. Properties of the 1C epoxy resin and/or process parameters may be specially adapted to the application. Particularly, the 1C epoxy resin is adapted to have an activation temperature of at least 50° C.

摘要: The invention relates to:—anion exchange blend membranes consisting the following blend components:—a halomethylated polymer (a polymer with —(CH2)x—CH2—Hal groups, Hal=F, Cl, Br, I; x=0-12), which is quaternised with a tertiary or a n-alkylated/n-arylated imidazole, an N-alkylated/N-arylated benzimidazole or an N-alkylated/N-arylated pyrazol to form an anion exchanger polymer. - an inert matrix polymer in which the anion exchange polymer is embedded and which is optionally covalently crosslinked with the halomethylated precursor of the anion exchanger polymer,—a polyethyleneglycol with epoxide or halomethyl terminal groups which are anchored by reacting with N—H-groups of the base matrix polymer using convalent cross-linking—optionally an acidic polymer which forms with the anion-exchanger polymer an ionic cross-linking (negative bound ions of the acidic polymer forming ionic cross-linking positions relative to the positive cations of the anion-exchanger polymer)—optionally a sulphonated polymer (polymer with sulphate groups —SO2Me, Me=any cation), which forms with the halomethyl groups of the halomethylated polymer convalent crosslinking bridges with sulfinate S-alkylation. The invention also relates to a method for producing said membranes, to the use of said membranes in electrochemical energy conversion processes (e.g. Redox-flow batteries and other flow batteries, PEM-electrolyses, membrane fuel cells), and in other membrane methods (e.g. electrodialysis, diffusion dialysis).

A′ represents a linear, cyclic or branched, saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted, hydrocarbon group including from 1-10 carbon atoms. A represents a linear, cyclic or branched, saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted, hydrocarbon group including 1-10 carbon atoms. R1 represents COOH, SO3H, or a salt thereof. One to three of X1-X8 is OH. Exactly one of X1-X8 is —O-A-R1. A method for generating electricity with such compounds is also described.-
