摘要: Methods and systems for monitoring a brush holder assembly and/or detecting wear of a brush in a brush holder assembly are disclosed. One method includes sending data from a plurality of remote monitoring locations to a central control unit, where the data may be evaluated in order to monitor states of brushes at a plurality of remote electrical facilities. For example, multiple images of a marker tracking longitudinal movement of the brush may be acquired. A comparison of the images, for example, a comparative imaging technique, such as pixel-by-pixel comparison, may then be performed in order to evaluate a condition of the brush, such as the wear rate, wear state, or life expectancy of the brush.

摘要: A monitoring apparatus configured for monitoring a carbon brush of a brush holder assembly of an electrical machine. The monitoring apparatus may include a flexible sensor and a signal processing circuit for processing a signal received from the flexible sensor. The flexible sensor may have an electrical resistance that varies based on a radius of curvature of the flexible sensor, wherein the radius of curvature of the flexible sensor may be associated with a deflection of a spring providing a force to engage the carbon brush with a rotating component of the electrical machine. The signal processing circuit may be coupled to the sensor and may be configured to determine a measure of a wear state of the carbon brush using information about the variable resistance of the flexible sensor.

摘要: A brush holder assembly for use in an electrical generator having a moving conductive surface may include a brush holder, such as a brush box, that is configured to be removably mounted to a mounting element on the electrical generator. A carbon brush may be slidingly disposed with the brush holder and may be biased into sliding contact with the moving conductive surface. The brush holder assembly includes a handle that is moveable between an unlocked position in which the brush holder is removable from the mounting element and a locked position in which the brush holder is secured relative to the mounting element. A circuit board is disposed within the handle and includes a sensor that provides an indication of an occurrence of an anomalous and/or threshold condition of the carbon brush.

摘要: The present inventive concept relates to a brush holder for electrical machines comprising a clamping piece comprising a first mounting part and a second clamping part, which when assembled define a clamping hole, which is adapted to be assembled around a spindle; and two brush holder arms, wherein a proximal end of said arm is pivotally mounted on the first mounting part of said clamping piece, and wherein a distal end of said arm is adapted to receive and retain a brush, and wherein said arms have an upper side which is opposite to a lower side facing a slip ring; at least one biasing spring which spring is adapted to act upon said brush holder arms in such a way that said brush holder arms move pivotally towards a slip ring, and when in use presses said brushes against the slip ring; at least one conductive wire connecting the brush to the clamping piece; and wherein a brush holder arm locking mechanism is arranged at or along the upper side of each respective brush holder arm, that said locking mechanism is adapted to be inserted into a slot arranged in the second clamping part; and wherein a brush locking pin is arranged to retain the brush in said brush holder arm, which pin when in use is provided in corresponding bores arranged in the brush holder arm and the brush, wherein said brush locking pin comprises a pipe portion and a spring portion, wherein said spring portion is arranged inside the pipe and has a portion protruding on the outside of said pipe portion from a slot in a wall of said pipe; and wherein said mounting part of said clamping piece is provided with a brush arm stop, arranged to limit a pivot movement of the brush holder arm in a direction towards a slip ring.

A mounting block is movable along the mounting axis with respect to the plate member, a grounding strap is coupled to the mounting block and is movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position in which the grounding strap contacts the rotor, and a biasing assembly is connected to the plate member and the mounting block and operable to bias the mounting block along the mounting axis toward the plate member, wherein the plate member is fixedly attached to the support bracket when in the second position and the biasing assembly biases the grounding strap into the engaged position.

摘要: A slip ring unit comprises a brush block with multiple brushes rotatable against a module with multiple sliding tracks. A position encoder is connected to the brush block and the module, for detecting the relative position between the brush block and the module. An evaluation unit receives signals from the position encoder and generates a position-dependent signal indicating wear. The evaluation unit has multiple wear counters assigned to multiple positions and/or sections of the slip ring. If a movement is detected within a certain section, the related wear counter is incremented to allow to monitor wear at slip rings that are not continuously rotating.

摘要: A brush wear indicating arrangement is provided. The brush wear indicating arrangement includes an insert, a first electrically conductive brush, and a wear indicator. The insert is disposed within a brush block housing and defines a first aperture. The first electrically conductive brush is movably engaged within the first aperture. The electrically conductive brush is configured to move outward from the first aperture as a wear surface of the first electrically conductive brush wears. The wear indicator is coupled to the first electrically conductive brush. The wear indicator is configured to extend beyond a first insert face of the insert as wear condition of the wear surface of the first electrically conductive brush exceeds a wear threshold.

摘要: A brush holder apparatus includes a stationary support member having at least one groove, and a fork electrical connector. The stationary support member has a conductive bar configured to pass through a portion of the stationary support member's main body. The conductive bar is configured to provide electrical conductivity with a collector mount and the fork electrical connector. A brush retainment member is configured to be releasably affixed to the stationary support member. The brush retainment member has at least one rail configured to slide along the at least one groove, and a knife electrical connector configured to mate with the fork electrical connector. The stationary support member is configured for electrical connection to a collector mount and the brush retainment member is configured to retain at least one brush.
