Abstract: A brushless electric machine, in particular a brushless DC motor, has a stator and a rotor arranged within the stator so as to be rotatable relative thereto. The rotor has a cylindrical base body which is non-rotatably connected to a machine shaft and carries a plurality of permanent magnets on its outer circumference, and the stator has a stator winding with a plurality of single-tooth windings for driving the rotor via an electrically generated magnetic field. The permanent magnets of the rotor are fixed by a thin-walled reinforcement radially surrounding them, wherein the reinforcement is connected to the permanent magnets by a plurality of welding points in a materially and/or positively locking manner.

Abstract: An example electrical machine is described that includes active segments for variable voltage generation. The electrical machine includes a drive shaft, a fixed rotor segment, an active rotor segment, and an actuator mechanism. The fixed rotor segment is coupled to the drive shaft, where the fixed rotor segment has affixed thereon first permanent magnets of alternating polarity. The active rotor segment axially is adjacent to the fixed rotor segment along the drive shaft. The active rotor segment also has affixed thereon second permanent magnets of alternating polarity. The actuator mechanism is configured to articulate the active rotor segment relative to the fixed rotor segment and thereby alter a phase of the second permanent magnets relative to the first permanent magnets in order to change a first voltage generated by the electrical machine to a second voltage generated by the electrical machine.

Abstract: An electric motor with multiple electric gears to achieve an effect equivalent to mechanical gears in transmissions, enabling more efficient use of electricity at a wider range of speeds and torques is described. The Gears for Electric Motor (GEM) comprises a multi-phase motor having a concentric set of dedicated rotors to specific ranges of revolutions per minute (RPMs), and corresponding stators. The rotors and stators may be fitted within each other or positioned approximately parallel to each other along the longitudinal axis of the motor shaft. A controller determines which rotors are activated based on desired efficiency, torque and speed. Alternately, or in addition, magnets and coil pairs are constructed with varying properties to make more efficient use of electricity at a wider range of speeds and torques.

Abstract: A synchronous-reluctance, rotary motor-generator having a rotor, a stator, a radial air gap positioned radially between the stator and the rotor, and a conductor winding assembly. The rotor has an even number of crescent rotor poles with a gap between adjacent crescent rotor poles. Each crescent rotor pole is non-symmetric about a radially-oriented centerline of the rotor ferromagnetic flux path. Abstract: In a rotor of a motor or the like, in order to suppress scattering of a part of a magnet provided around a rotating shaft, the rotor has a cylindrical magnet through which the rotating shaft passes, a first holder which covers the magnet from one side in an axial direction of the rotating shaft and a second holder which covers the magnet from the other side in the axial direction. The magnet is press-fitted into a first body portion of the first holder and a second body portion of the second holder, and a first end of the first body portion and a second end of the second body portion are joined by welding or the like. An inner diameter of the first end and the inner diameter of the second end are larger than an outer diameter of the magnet.
