摘要: Circuits and methods that solve the light-load problem of a multi-level converter by generating a ripple signal in the control loop of the multi-level converter that causes a large output current ripple during light load conditions. This added current ripple does not change the average output current but does create a temporary positive and negative current that can be used to balance and charge/discharge the fly capacitors of the multi-level converter. An alternative approach is to add extra switching cycles for the fly capacitors when the output ripple current crosses zero.

摘要: A three-level power converter includes a direct current power supply unit including a filter capacitor connected between a high potential line and an intermediate potential line and a filter capacitor connected between the intermediate potential line and a low potential line, and a power conversion circuit that converts a three-level direct current voltage output from the high potential line, the intermediate potential line, and the low potential line into a three-phase alternating current voltage. A controller generates an imbalance signal representing an imbalance between a first capacitor voltage and a second capacitor voltage on the basis of values detected by voltage sensors, and generates a modulation signal for causing the power conversion circuit to perform a two-phase modulation operation on the basis of a superimposed signal obtained by superimposing the imbalance signal on a reference signal of the three-phase alternating current voltage.

摘要: The present invention provides a built-in ripple injection circuit and a control chip, in which a divided feedback voltage is obtained by division of an output voltage by a feedback circuit, and high-frequency ripple in the output voltage is obtained by an operational amplifier and a first capacitor. Moreover, the high-frequency ripple is injected at a third terminal of a source follower. As a result, the feedback voltage is a superimposition of the divided feedback voltage with the high-frequency ripple. This can enhance stability and interference resilience of a power supply system operating in a ripple-based COT control mode. Further, the built-in ripple circuit can be integrated in the control chip. This dispenses with the use of a large capacitor and satisfactorily addresses applications requiring on-chip integration of the feedback circuit, reducing the cost of the power supply system.

摘要: According to an embodiment, a power conversion system includes a plurality of converters and a control unit. The plurality of converters are provided in parallel for each phase of a multi-phase alternating current power system. The control unit uses a plurality of carrier signals having a prescribed phase difference from each other in carrier comparison type pulse width modulation (PWM) control. The control unit detects a current of a primary side of the plurality of converters at each of four or more even-numbered timings when the four or more even-numbered timings are defined at prescribed time intervals during one cycle of a specific carrier signal among the plurality of carrier signals. The control unit generates a reference voltage for the PWM control using a value of the detected current of the primary side and a value of a reference current of the primary side and updates the reference voltage at each of the four or more even-numbered timings. The control unit controls a specific converter among the plurality of converters using the specific carrier signal and the updated reference voltage.

摘要: An apparatus such as a power supply or other suitable entity includes a controller. The controller receives a target ripple current value indicative of a ripple current associated with an output voltage and corresponding output current of a power converter powering a load. The controller selects a switching frequency of operating the power converter as a function of a magnitude of the received target ripple current value. The controller applies the selected switching frequency to switches in the power converter to produce the output current with a magnitude of the ripple current as indicated by the target ripple current value.
