    Abstract: Examples described herein provide an electric power distribution system (EPDS) that includes a transformer rectifier unit (TRU) that receives alternating current (AC) electric power from an AC electric power source during a first state of operation. The EPDS further includes a direct current (DC) electric power source that receives the DC electric power from the TRU during the first state of operation. The EPDS further includes a DC essential bus that receives the DC electric power from the DC electric power source during the first state of operation and that receives the DC electric power from another source during a second state of operation. The EPDS further includes a controller to selectively engage a diode bypass contactor to enable a diode during the second state of operation, and selectively engage the diode bypass contactor to enable a diode bypass during the first state of operation.

    Abstract: A high-voltage generator may be provided. The high-voltage generator may include a rectifying unit, a grid-controlled unit, and a shielding device. The rectifying unit may be configured to rectify an electric current generated in the high-voltage generator. The grid-controlled unit may be configured to generate a high voltage and electrically connected to the rectifying unit. The grid-controlled unit may have a conductive surface that opposes the rectifying unit. The shielding device may be spaced apart from the rectifying unit and the conductive surface of the grid-controlled unit. The shielding device may be electrically connected to the rectifying unit.

    Abstract: An AC/DC Switching Mode Power Supply (SMPS) comprises a PFC stage, an isolated LLC DC/DC converter stage, and a control circuit that provides feedback/control signals to PFC and LLC controllers, to enable a plurality of operating modes, dependent on a sensed peak AC input voltage and required output voltage Vo. The PFC provides a first DC bus voltage Vdc (e.g. 200V) for low line AC input and a second DC bus voltage (e.g. 400V) for high line or universal AC input. A multi-mode LLC converter is operable in a half-bridge mode or a full-bridge mode. For low line AC input, output voltage Vo, and PFC output Vdc, the LLC operates in full-bridge mode; for high line input, output voltage Vo and PFC output 2×Vdc, the LLC operates in half-bridge mode; for universal AC input, output voltage 2×Vo, and PFC output 2×Vdc, the LLC operates in full-bridge mode.

    Abstract: A control chip applied in a switching power supply, where the switching power supply includes a rectifier circuit for receiving an AC input voltage and generating a rectified voltage, the control chip including: a high-voltage pin; a detection circuit coupled to the high-voltage pin to determine whether the high-voltage pin is coupled to the AC input voltage or the rectified voltage according to a sampling voltage representing a voltage received by the high-voltage pin; and a discharge circuit, where when the high-voltage pin is determined to be coupled to the AC input voltage, the control chip can enable the discharge circuit to discharge a safety capacitor coupled to an input port of the switching power supply after the switching power supply is powered off, and when the high-voltage pin is determined to be coupled to the rectified voltage, the control chip can disable the discharge circuit.

    Abstract: A utility meter includes a real-time clock (RTC), a supercapacitor, a power supply, and a set of photodiodes. The RTC keeps time utilized for time stamps applicable to events that occur during alternating current (AC) power outages of the utility meter, and the supercapacitor powers the RTC. The power supply operates in an active mode responsive to an AC line voltage meeting a threshold and, when in the active mode, charges the supercapacitor to power the RTC. The set of photodiodes absorbs energy from ambient light and charges the supercapacitor to power the RTC. Thus, the supercapacitor is configured to be charged based on the power supply and based on the set of photodiodes.

    Abstract: Techniques for implementing a fault-tolerant power supply are described. In an example, a system converts an alternating-current (AC) voltage to an initial direct current (DC) voltage. The system further converts the initial DC voltage to a first DC voltage and a second DC voltage. The system applies the first DC voltage to a high-priority device such as a metrology device. The system applies the second DC voltage to a low-priority or peripheral device. When the initial DC voltage is outside a voltage range, the system deactivates the second DC voltage to the lower-priority device and maintains the first DC voltage to the metrology device.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an image display apparatus. The image display apparatus includes a display; a processor configured to control to supply a power to the display; and a power supply configured to convert an input AC power and output converted first DC power and second DC power to the processor and the display, wherein the power supply comprises a discharging unit configured to discharge the first DC power when a supply of the AC power to the power supply is stopped, wherein the processor is configured to supply the second DC power to the display according to a level of a voltage outputted from the discharging unit, when the supply of the AC power to the power supply is stopped and then supplied again. Accordingly, when the AC power is supplied to the power supply of the image display apparatus, the display can be quickly turned on.
