Abstract: A double winding electric machine assembly including a double winding electric machine having a first stator winding and a second stator winding; a first converter including a first modulator and a first power unit whose output is electrically connected to the first stator winding; a second converter including a second modulator and a second power unit whose output is electrically connected to the second stator winding. The assembly includes a current determining system adapted to determine at least one instantaneous phase current in the output of the first power unit; and a synchronizing system adapted to analyse ripple in the at least one instantaneous phase current, and to synchronize the first modulator with the second modulator by adjusting a phase shift between the first modulator and the second modulator until a minimum peak-to-peak current is obtained.

Abstract: A ripple circuit includes a sensor, and oscillator circuit and a logic gate. The sensor monitors operation of a motor that is powered by a power signal provided by a motor circuit. The sensor outputs a data signal having a first state or a second state based on the operation of the motor. The oscillator circuit generates an oscillating signal having a fixed frequency. The logic gate includes at least one input in signal communication with the sensor and the oscillator circuit and at least one output in signal communication with the motor circuit. The logic gate selectively outputs the oscillating signal based on the first state or the second state of the data signal to generate a modulated signal. The logic gate is configured to deliver the modulated signal to the motor circuit.

Abstract: There is described a method of controlling an inverter supplying power to a permanent magnet AC, PMAC, motor having a plurality of phase windings, The method comprises: selecting a first phase winding of the PMAC motor; electrically connecting the first phase winding to a first DC terminal of a DC link circuit at a first time, and maintaining the connection between the first phase winding and the first DC terminal: determining a flux difference between the first phase winding and a second phase winding of the PMAC motor; selecting a second time to electrically connect the second phase winding to the first DC terminal; electrically connecting the second phase winding to the first DC terminal at the second time; and maintaining the connection between the second phase winding and the first DC terminal. The second time is selected based on the determined flux difference.
