摘要: A radio frequency (RF) transmission line is described. The RF transmission line includes a first ground line, a second ground line, and a signal line disposed on a substrate and forming a coplanar waveguide. A plasma limiter feature is integrated into an internal surface of one or more of the first ground line, the second ground line, and the signal line. The plasma limiter decreases a gap distance between the signal line and the associated ground line. The gap distance is selected, together with a gas pressure, to control a voltage at which the gas within the gap breaks down, targeted at a breakdown power of 1 W across a wide bandwidth. The plasma limiter thus limits a power transmitted by way of the RF transmission line for protecting a sensitive integrated circuit.

摘要: Systems and methods for limiting volume in an audio playback device using a feedback controller are disclosed herein. In one example, a gain stage modulates gain of an audio signal based in part on feedback from a downstream limiter. The gain stage receives a first audio signal as well as a feedback signal from the feedback controller. Based at least in part on the feedback signal from the feedback controller, the gain stage modulates a gain of the first audio signal to provide a second audio signal. The second audio signal is delivered to the limiter, which limits the second audio signal to produce an output signal. The output signal is played back via a transducer. The feedback controller receives a gain reduction value from the limiter and determines a feedback signal to provide to the gain stage upstream of the limiter.

摘要: An IP speaker system is disclosed that includes an IP speaker connected to one or more external analog speakers. The IP speaker comprises a CPU that provides an audio data stream for transmission to a first amplifier and a second amplifier. The first amplifier outputs a first analog audio signal at a first power level for driving an internal driver of the IP speaker, and the second amplifier outputs a second analog audio signal at a second power level for driving one or more external drivers of the one or more external analog speakers. The CPU supervises the one or more external analog speakers so as to detect any speaker failure, disconnection, short or other change in operational status. The IP speaker also comprises a power circuit that receives electrical power transmitted over a network cable as its input power and provides output power available for consumption by the IP speaker and the one or more external analog speakers. The power circuit measures the input power and decreases the output power if the measured input power exceeds a predetermined power level.

摘要: A monolithic integrated circuit (IC), and method of manufacturing same, that includes all RF front end or transceiver elements for a portable communication device, including a power amplifier (PA), a matching, coupling and filtering network, and an antenna switch to couple the conditioned PA signal to an antenna. An output signal sensor senses at least a voltage amplitude of the signal switched by the antenna switch, and signals a PA control circuit to limit PA output power in response to excessive values of sensed output. Stacks of multiple FETs in series to operate as a switching device may be used for implementation of the RF front end, and the method and apparatus of such stacks are claimed as subcombinations. An iClass PA architecture is described that dissipatively terminates unwanted harmonics of the PA output signal. A preferred embodiment of the RF transceiver IC includes two distinct PA circuits, two distinct receive signal amplifier circuits, and a four-way antenna switch to selectably couple a single antenna connection to any one of the four circuits.

摘要: A frequency selective limiter (FSL) is provided having a transmission line structure with a tapered width. The FSL includes a substrate having a magnetic material, a signal (or center) conductor disposed on the substrate and first and second ground plane conductors disposed on the substrate. The signal conductor having a first end with a first width and a second end with a second different width such that the signal conductor is provided having a taper between the first and second ends of the signal conductor. First and second ground plane conductors are spaced apart from first and second edges of signal conductor, respectively, by a distance that changes from the first end of signal conductor to the second end of signal conductor such that signal conductor, and first and second ground plane conductors form a co-planar waveguide transmission line.
