摘要: A communication management resource implements an iterative process to derive settings for digital precoder W, analog precoder A, and decode function D with a bandwidth-limited fronthaul link between the application of digital precoder W and the application of analog precoder A. The iterative process includes: for a first instance of digital precoder W and decode function D, optimize an instance of the analog precoder A; and based on the optimized instance of the analog precoder A, optimize a second instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D. In one implementation, for each iteration of multiple iterations, the communication management resource: i) optimizes an instance of the analog precoder A based on an instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D, and ii) optimizes an instance of the digital precoder W and the decode function D based on the instance of the analog precoder A.

The method further includes combining, at the satellite, the plurality of source signals into a combined source signal with an overlapping bandwidth, wherein each of the source signals are further modulated according to at least one predetermined modulation method before they are combined, and transmitting, by a downlink transmission from the satellite to a gateway ground station, the combined source signal.

摘要: In encoding a picture, comprising a plurality of tiles, into a bit-stream, a method and apparatus is provided for signaling the tile attribute values per-tile, using a compact syntax. These embodiments signal per-tile attribute values using a loop over the tiles. The tile attributes may, for example, be in the form of a set of tile syntax elements (one syntax element per tile attribute), or for example in the form of a set of flags to enable or disable the usage of the tile attributes. These embodiments provide freedom for an encoder to assign the tile attribute values per tile, or per any subset of tiles in a picture, and the attribute values are signaled in a compact syntax using a loop (or loops) over tiles.

摘要: Embodiments are directed to a companding method and system for reducing coding noise in an audio codec. A compression process reduces an original dynamic range of an initial audio signal through a compression process that divides the initial audio signal into a plurality of segments using a defined window shape, calculates a wideband gain in the frequency domain using a non-energy based average of frequency domain samples of the initial audio signal, and applies individual gain values to amplify segments of relatively low intensity and attenuate segments of relatively high intensity. The compressed audio signal is then expanded back to the substantially the original dynamic range that applies inverse gain values to amplify segments of relatively high intensity and attenuating segments of relatively low intensity. A QMF filterbank is used to analyze the initial audio signal to obtain a frequency domain representation.
